Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

@steveM: How large of an SD card does your Xibo client take?

Sorry I have not looked at this thread for a while.

My SD card is 32G. I'll get back to you later with details.

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

I installed the complete image with Xibo already installed and I now have a simple display system working.

When booting I notice that both Apache and mysql are being loaded. Are they necessary for running the Xibo1.4 Client on a Pi?

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

Hi hellbender

Thanks for your reply

The problem turned ot to be a typo in the site.cfg script
"xxmdsUrl=http://192.168.1.199/xibo" It should be xmdsUrl, I had an extra x!

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

I got Xibo working on a Raspbery Pi and downloaded content for the Xibo.co.uk cloud. Parallel to that I put Xibo on an XP PC and ran a client on the same PC. Now I am trying to get the Pi to connect to the XP PC server. No can do and I keep displaying the cache from the old cloud server. I simply ca...

Re: Realtech 8191su Wifi setup

Thanks for the replies. Soon after my post it suddenly started working and has remaind stable ever since.
I guess it took a while longer for the router and WiFi dongle to establish communications.

Realtech 8191su Wifi setup

I cannot seem to get the above to work with my wireless router setup. It seems every internet Raspberry Pi help site gives a slightly different way of setting up wifi. I've tried them all! What have I left out? Here is what I have: [email protected] ~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 3.6.11+ #434 PREEMPT W...

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

Thanks Hellbender No worries.

I eventually loaded the Xibo img file so I've now got a working system.

When I get home next week I'll try your How To again.

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

Following on from my earlier post I decided to format the SD card (again!) and go through the process again. This time I entered every line in the Xibo How To one by one to make sure I did not miss an error created whilst running a long script, and it paid off. In the "Getting the code" section I en...

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

I see in the util/ directory the build chromium file is called build-chromium.sh whereas the How to describes it as build_chromium.sh.

Is the typo the error? On reflection I might have noticed this last time but I was in such a rush I did not pay attention to it! (won't make that mistake again :<) )

Re: Xibo player (work) on raspberrypi

Hi Hellbender When I did the initial install I followed your instructions to the letter, however after the last post I did it again. There were a few errors this time regading repeat symbolic links, probably because this is now an install over an install so I ignored that. I tried ./run.sh again and...

"but there's a hole in the bucket"!!!!

I've got the telnetd file on my laptop, now I need ftp to get it across to the pi!!

Can I just copy it across onto the SD card plugged into the laptop and maneuver it from there once the card is back in the Pi?

Re: No telnet or ssh

Putty is just so complicated, no put or get commands and it's yet another application to install and learn. Why would you want to use it?

With the command prompt, telnet and ftp I can do anything. I'm on a simple network with a laptop and a pi so there are no security issues.

I reloaded the operating system but the pi and xp laptop still don't talk.

I thought the pi was defaulted to a Dynamic ip address and should pick up the address from the laptops DHCP.

Re: No telnet or ssh

Its not that. I didn't know I needed an internet connection so did not set it up.

In an effort to connect to the internet I changed the pi from static to DHCP. I've now lost connectivity with it and my laptop. The pi does not seem to respond to the DHCP server.

Oh what a mess I'm in
