Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=124095 Windows Vista will next April be change to Security Update Support, MS feel it is end of life. In my experience machines with Windows 7 / 8.1pre-installed can be updated free to Windows 10, so it is not surprising that MS feel that off...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

Some very low level stuff not withstanding, I'm not much of a programmer myself. I doubt I can get anywhere functional with it within a reasonable timeframe. I'm prepared to pay 100 bucks if you do it, though. :-p And then I'll test it out. :-) Hmm. If want want a simple REST Web server responding ...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

I think the only reason to use this "Wino" (Windows in name only) OS thingie is if you are the kind of person who is totally in love with all things Microsoft. These people exist. There are some people who would drive a go-cart if it had a nameplate on it that said "Cadillac". It is the same with s...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

I know, fruit, I know. I made a webserver on my old Pi under raspbian. But I wanted to see if the same is possible with win10 on Pi2(well, win 10 IoT, in this case). It hasn't even to be IIS. :-p So write one! It is not even that difficult. You just need some source code that you can compile. The c...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

I've noted this before, but the forum has the tendency to act as if everyone coming here is an IT-specialist. I can understand one expects expert devs when one is actually developing stuff for the raspberry and win IoT, but just to *run* it (or something on it), I find that mentality a bit disconce...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

Can one run *anything* on it that would normally run on win 10 (or lower)? You can ONLY run stuff on your Win10IoT RPi that has been built specially for your Raspberry Pi. It WILL NOT run any regular windows programs (some C# stuff excepted). Go away and read more of the Microsoft published documen...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

So I see that Windows 10 IoT is out but I also see its circus to get it installed and running on an PI. So I have to have Windows 10 on my main PC before I can test it on a Pi. Seems sorta silly. Has no one in the community not already gone through this process and then imaged there flash card and ...

Re: Windows 10 SD Image download

So i want to follow up and complain now that i got it running. Windows 10 on the rpi is bs. There is no OS, there isnt even really a command prompt. It a remote shell that allows you to develop on it. So this whole big ooh look windows 10 will run on it is a straight up lie. Completly misleading. I...

Re: win10 install on rasp 2 from vista?

Hi there, is there a step-by-step tutorial somewhere on how to install win10 (the raspberry pi 2 version) while using a computer that runs Vista? I found some that talk about having a win10 version, or use VM and what not... but I really would like the most easy install method to get win10 installe...

Re: Raspberry Pi with more RAM

In terms of bangs for the buck the RPi is the cheapest 700Mhz computer I've ever owned. Anyone moaning about the £35/$35/€35 price tag needs to look at whether they can find anything better, faster, smarter at that same price. I had a look the other day. The first two computers I played with 35 yea...

I don't get your "But a tablet is cheaper" argument. I'd point out that a candy bar is cheaper too. Makes as much sense. uhuh. So a candy bar is a computer too, nowadays? I hope you don't mistake it with your RP too often. It makes no sense that it wouldn't make sense to you, unless you're be...

Re: Raspberry Pi with more RAM

Well, with all due respect, but it DOES seem the foundation isn't going forwards much. Other SOC or not, it seems to me it ain't all that impossible to do. Even if it costs 'millions'; in that case, the original raspberry pi (development) will have costed millions too. They got more than double thei...

Re: hardware bug ethernet/hdmi?

stupid question. are you sure you entered the HDMI connector into the PI all the way? p.s. by "raspbian" I assume you mean the PI? raspbian is the OS. Yes, I checked the cables from the start of the problem, as I've said. Yes, I know raspbian is the OS. You assume correctly; I meant the raspberry P...

Re: hardware bug ethernet/hdmi?

Try increasing the hdmi drive as per http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Interference_visible_on_a_HDMI_or_DVI_monitor (BTW there is no S-video from the RPi. Hence the second line of your first post in this topic is confusing.) I tried what you (your link) suggested, but it didn't help. I first ...

hardware bug ethernet/hdmi?

A peculiar thing happened to me, recently, while tinkering with the raspberry Pi (model B, 512 MB). All my former tries (mainly with raspbmc and open elec) were going reasonably well, while I was using the composite-video/audio jacks connected to a TV. To see how it looked, but mainly because my com...

Re: Any hope for a dead pi

As an alternative, and as a last ditch effort - when nothing to lose - you can try to put your raspberry in a deep-freezer at -20°C and see after two hours, if you can get anything more out of it. Deep-freezing electronics can create some strange behaviours, after all, and some had some successful t...

Re: error "dlprogress "${dlbase}/bin/filesystem/$rootstub}"

To give an update: I re-flashed it with the standalone version of raspbmc, and another one with openelec (with xbmc). Both worked fine. Though...that doesn't clear up why it gives errors when it wants to update (and consequent loop in reboot) when the non-standalone version is used. I can't imagine ...
