Can't access share from W7

So I followed a bunch of tutorials, and one merged with another and I might have mussed up the instructions. samba config: # # Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux. # # # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the # smb.conf(5) manual page in order t...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Actually, it worked without the fingerprint. After:

sudo make install

then just:

pianobar

and it worked just fine. If I want it out the analog, I just unplug the hdmi and reboot it.

Re: New, and kind of lost

It does seem stable. I started it, left for a few hours and it wasn't running when I got back, but then restarted it and ran it for 6hrs before turning it off. I get the same popping on the analog output everyone has, but hdmi seems fine. The next step is to figure out how to send the data and contr...

Re: New, and kind of lost

WOO HOO!!!! It's playing now! Out of the hdmi though. Next step is to figure out how to specify the analog audio output. After that comes the really difficult task of controlling this via TCP/IP. Thanks so much for sticking with me on this! I'm going to just be satisfied for the evening that it work...

Re: New, and kind of lost

I don't see how other people have this working. I'm getting further, but now I'm stuck at: [email protected] ~/pianobar $ sudo make clean && make && make install CLEAN /bin/sh: 2: cannot create src/libwaitress/waitress.d.4319: Permission denied /bin/sh: 2: cannot create src/libpiano/response.d.4324: Pe...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Just did another format/install. Tried the method mentioned above and can't even get past step 1. [email protected] ~ $ sudo git clone git://github.com/cristianrasch/pianobar.git sudo: git: command not found It seems that every method I've tried hangs somewhere and the furthest I get is the TLS Error b...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Ok, got further with that, but still had problems. Figuring it was probably due to all the failed attempts I formatted the SD card and started over. Got even further until... After doing cd pianobar I get to /pianobar $ but then: [email protected] ~/pianobar $ sudo make clean && make && make install sr...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Thanks so much for posting that. I need step by step instructions like that until I get used to this. I think I hit a wall though: [email protected] ~ $ sudo apt-get install git pkg-config libevent-pthreads-2.0-5 libao-dev gnutls-dev libmad0-dev libfaad-dev libjson0-dev Reading package lists... Done Bu...

Re: New, and kind of lost

I really wish I knew what to do after reading that. Do I have to wipe it and start over? Can I just apply the fix I found if I manage to find out how to edit the code? Can anyone tell me how to open the file containing the code so I can edit it? I understand it's simple as making toast once you know...

Re: New, and kind of lost

I saw that thread, but I was following these directions which seem way easier. I've tried looking up the TLS error but all of the responses leave out a lot of steps assuming everyone knows their way around linux. I am in the US. I don't really want to have to wipe the thing out and start over if I c...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Hey, you took a shot at it. And what you linked is actually more information than I had before. I just don't know how to use that information yet :)

Re: New, and kind of lost

I didn't see pianobar as a sub in the applications section, so I posed here. I understand how to open the file you linked, my problem is how to get that code into the right file on my RPi. How do I open the pianobar file I downloaded with the command: sudo apt-get install pianobar That installed fin...

Re: New, and kind of lost

Sorry, that's not much clearer. First, how do I even open that file? Second, am I supposed to compare 1300+ lines of code? Third, does what I linked not answer my problem if I can manage to find the file and open it?

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hey. I'm about to become more of a draw on resources than a contributor. Hopefully that will change. I have a programming background, but not in line code. I'm an A/V programmer. I understand signal flow, networking (very well), protocols... I'm going to be asking a ton of questions though, because ...

New, and kind of lost

My job title is "Programmer", but when you're an A/V programmer, you kind of feel like a fraud. I understand a lot of things, but the more you know, the more you know you don't know. I'm just trying to get pianobar to work. I've found all kinds of walk throughs to get it going, but when I try to log...
