Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Hi group, it seems there is a new issue with enabling both I2C busses. After a recent apt-get update / apt-get upgrade / reboot cycle I seem to have lost /dev/i2c-0 . I checked all my configuration an nothing I touched has changed. So I can only assume that /dev/i2c-0 has been disabled, any idea how...

Re: I2C Driver on Address 0x3b on Bus 1

Guys, the PCM512x driver (0x4c on the i2c bus) should only be loaded if you have our IQaudIO.com Full HD audio Pi-DAC. It's certainly not loaded by default unless you are using a Volumio or more recently RuneAudio distribution and selecting the Pi-DAC as the output device. On my system only address...

Re: I2C Driver on Address 0x3b on Bus 1

Excellent, you guys are the best! In my application I don't even need any sound so I blacklisted all the drivers and now I have all my I2C addresses back.

I'm curious, how did you find out that it's the wolfson driver? Is there any other way than looking through the whole source?

Cheers

I2C Driver on Address 0x3b on Bus 1

Hi all,

on I2C bus 1 I see address 0x3b being used by some driver ("sudo i2cdetect -y 1" gives me a "UU" at that address). Can anyone tell me what that device is, and how I can enable/disable/use it?

Cheers

sorry must have overlooked that, and wow, that was a quick response :-)

Thanks!

Re: Problem with /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

sorry for responding so late, my SPAM filter must have caught the reply notification. Now for your question, YES I do still see the issue that the RPi freezes but only if I have a monitor connected. When I run the RPi headless it works perfectly. I should also notice that I've never seen any bogus v...

Second I2C bus

Hi Group,

I just looked at the pin assignments of the new B+, and I could not find the second I2C bus (the one that used to be on P5). Does that mean that the B+ exposes only one I2C bus?

Re: Problem with /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

not sure if anyone is still looking at this issue but even about a year after this discussion a fully updated RPi still seems to have the same issue. As pointed out before it seems to be related to some race-condition between the user code and the graphics driver. I found out that if nothing is conn...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Seems I was just luck with my peripherals on i2c0 on P5 so far :-). Thanks for the info I guess that will save me plenty of debugging time in the future when I connect other boards that suddenly would not work in i2c0.

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

Since you mention the pull up resistors. Do I really have to add them? It always seemed to me that the RPi already has build-in pull ups?

Not that this means much, but so far my setup worked just the same with and without pull up resistors attached (I used 10K Ohm resistors).

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

I'm using the same sensor on my RPi without any issues (on neither bus), so no negative experiences here.

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

yes, you are correct. The code needs to be re-run after a reboot. That's why I ported it to C so I can run it inside my program. If you want to undo the change without rebooting the RPi just flip the bits back that the code changes, for instance by storing the values of the registers 0 and 2 before ...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

This is too cool. Just when I finally found the time to solder a connector to P5 and ran into problems with the secondary I2C Bus my question (code required to configure the second bus) was already answered here. Awesome forum, answering my questions before I even ask them :D. Maybe I can also add s...

Re: Enable both I2C Busses

thanks a lot Bill,

looks I'm up to some delicate soldering on my RPi :-) I'll post results when I get it to work (or when I fried the PCB).

Enable both I2C Busses

Hi all, I'm trying to connect a number of I2C devices to the RPi but some have the same (fixed) I2C address. My understanding is that the RPi has two I2C busses but only the second (for the latest RPi revision) is exposed via the GPIO pins. Is there any way to access both I2C busses (e.g. soldering ...
