Re: Motor won't reverse

possible MOTB is faulty

either a faulty screw connector on MOTB

or faulty motor IC

Remember MOTA high and MOTB Low is one direction
MOTA low and MOT B high is the reverse of that

MOTA low and MOT B low is stop
and same if both are HIGH

Re: Programming Atmega 328 using UART

you can send code (i.e) sketches over UART the way I do it is via alamode 5v, GND, RX, TX and pin 18 for reset and a patched avrdude if you mean program a chip for example a bootloader for arduino then its known to be possible with the GPIO but I have not found a way yet btw seeing as your on the ge...

Re: Motor driver not working! :(

No that is the linear regulator one which gets waaay to hot. It can still be used if you replace the standard linear 7805 with a switch mode version, but they are rather expensive: Like these http://www.murata-ps.com/data/meters/dms-78xxsr.pdf There are others (cheaper) an somebody once mentioned i...

Re: Gertboard Unused Area

but would love an explanation for both Version 1 and Version 2 as Version2 is completely different As explained by plugwash the design on V1 was not good so on V2 I replaced it with a switched mode version. You can find a whole story about that starting here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt...

when you do get a chance to make a part list

can you include one for the Version 1 with the switched regulator part, for people that don't mind paying for the expensive part

Am I correct in think ing that the unused area was made to accommodate a power supply port so that would be J9 = 2.1mm jack C4 = Electrolytic Radial Capacitor (10uF) D20 = 1N4007 Diode C6 & C7 = Capacitor (100nF [0.1uF]) --- SMT U2 Voltage Regulator (3.3V) Not sure about C5 and Vx but they look like...

Forgiven :) Alternative tactile switch legs can be bent to fit. After I soldered them in that hit me that I could have bent the legs and used the other ones I like your blue leds. I knew they'd be blue. (Just had a feeling). Interesting idea on the pullups. Funnily enough I prefer the leds not lit ...

Re: Pot to button conversion

A thermostat is very simple: a thermometer and a switch. For the thermometer, you can probably use the DS18B20 (search for that on the forum). For the switch you need a relay with sufficiently capable contacts for whatever you are switching. That will take more power than a GPIO can provide, so fig...

Re: Pot to button conversion

There is a third possibility: that the POT is not a pot, but a dial mechanically controlling the sensitivity of a bi-metalic strip. If that's what you've got the solution is to build a new thermostat; you can't reuse any of it. I think im gonna go with your idea the device I got sells on ebay for £...
