Half my problem is now fixed. I have Raspbmc up and running by installing the full image to SD (so that network connection is not needed). I'm used to C++, so that's why I added the comments the way I did. Also, I copied and pasted the contents, then changed them just so that my SSID and password wouldn't be floating around in cyber space.
