Pi4B I2C problems or What has changed in I2C on Pi4B

Ran into problems with using PiJuice on a Pi4B. PiJuice is controlled via I2C. On a Pi3B+ with Buster everything worked fine using the default i2c-bcm2835 module. On the Pi4B I2C communication to the PiJuice failed completely (Remote I/O Error). After switching to the older i2c-bcm2708 module commun...

Looking on Github I think this is the master library https://github.com/silvanmelchior/userland/tree/master/host_applications/linux/apps/raspicam Thanks for the confirmation. ( The last commit is on Jan 2015 though ). Once I had tried this and couldn't get it compile right away. I will take a look....

Re: WiFi 3B+ only connects if WiFi country matches locale country

Yes, I am aware of this.
That is why I want to set WiFi country to AT.
But I do not want to be forced to set the locale (interface language) to German (DE_AT).
On all my other Pis I do not have this problem.

WiFi 3B+ only connects if WiFi country matches locale country

Recently received my RasPad with a 3b+. Since I am living in Austria I set my WiFi country to AT. I usually have my locale and keyboard set to en_US. WiFi scanning then works, but association does not. When setting WiFi country to US, it connects fine. This is when connecting to a 5 GHz network. Any...

Re: GPIO UART won't go above 115200 baud

Your RPI3 serial port is probably connected to the mini-uart (=default). See https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... on/uart.md
for details.
If you do not need Bluetooth switch to the PL011 uart which is much more capable. See also the link above.

Re: Starting a python program with keyboard input with another python program

To answer your original question, start your scoreboardMatrixDIsplay with:

Code: Select all

os.system("sudo python /home/pi/Desktop/scoreboardMatrixDisplay.py &")
The '&' puts it in the background and the calling program will continue waiting for the button press.

Re: Shutdown delay

if you want an automatic shutdown 5 hours after boot use the 'at' command. 'at' is not installed by default - > sudo apt-get install at . Look at the 'at' man page for all the different options to specify when the 'at' job should run. For example add the following to /etc/rc.local: at -M now + 5 hou...

Re: How does the RPi3 process the time since the official image don't have ntp installed?

Under Stretch Raspbian now uses timesyncd. The timesyncd service is simpler than a full-fledged ntp server. It uses sntp to sync the time. It will also update the RTC (if available) regularly. See e.g. https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd-timesyncd.service.html. Under Jessie the t...

[SOLVED] Raspbian Stretch; Using PCM for WS281x LEDs does not work any more

I am using the following library https://github.com/jgarff/rpi_ws281x to control WS281x LEDs (e.g. Pimoroni's original Unicorn HAT). You can use PWM (the default), PCM or SPI. This worked nicely under Jessie. Under Stretch only PWM and SPI work. Programming the PCM via DMA does not seem to work any ...

Re: usb mass storage boot: sudo reboot fails

Some more data. My original post used not a real USB hard disk but an enclosure with an USB to IDE adapter connected to a 500Gb IDE disk. There cold boot worked (with the boot_timeout otp set to 1 -> 5 sec timeout), but reboot did not. Today tried with a 1Tb Western Digital Passport directly powered...

usb mass storage boot: sudo reboot fails

I can successfully boot a RPi 3 from a USB hard disk using the documented procedure on https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/msd.md . I had to increase the usb boot timeout (program_usb_boot_timeout=1) otherwise the disk was not recognized. However trying to reboot...

With the availability of the Element14 customization service ( http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-76955?ICID=rpimain-topban-dsgncntr ) now a 3rd party could produce a Compute Module 2. Just curious to know if the RPi Foundation is still planning to release a Compute Module 2 some time next ...

How to go to Wi-Fi settings? :? I am assuming you are booting into the desktop. Just click on the wi-fi symbol (top right). It will show the wifi networks detected (provided your wifi adapter is supported). Just click on the one you want and then fill in the password. That is all now under Jessie. ...

Re: fbi and official 7inch display problem

fbi normally wants access to a console terminal connected to the Pi. This is why it works when you connect a keyboard, but does not via ssh. However there is an undocumented option (it is not in the fbi man page) to make it work via ssh. If you are using ssh, try: fbi -T 1 [...] Where "1" is the num...

Raspbian with 4.1 Kernel official?

The official download (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/) is still 2015-05-05 with the 3.18 kernel.
When doing apt-get update and apt-get upgrade you get the 4.1 kernel.
When will the official download be updated?

Re: Superfluous rpi-update in air-pi-install.sh?

OK. Understood. kinstall.tar.gz installs kernel 3.18.9, while the latest download (2015-05-05) installs 3.18.11 and rpi-update probably even higher. But kinstall.tar.gz does not install the start*.elf files (the firmware ShiftPlusOne refers to?) in /boot. Still a bit of overkill to guarantee the rig...

Superfluous rpi-update in air-pi-install.sh?

Why is rpi-update called early on in air-pi-install.sh?
Later on the kernel, modules, etc. are overwritten by the extraction of kinstall.tar.gz, negating any kernel & module updates by rpi-update.
My guess is the space qualification is only valid for the kernel, etc. in kinstall.tar.gz.
Just curious.
