vnc questions

I noticed that after I enter a VNC session, then exit, then try to re-connect, it says "Connection refused by computer". Why would this be? I also noticed that after logging into my raspberry pi, I get this error: Screenshot from 2019-03-04 05-06-07.png I thought that the pi has a gui? Do I need to ...

Re: vncviewer unable to connect to server

Same error. Netstat returns this:

Code: Select all

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:5900 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 17985/vncserver-x11
But 5900 fails too.

vncviewer unable to connect to server

I ran vncserver on my pi, and it's running on :1. So I enter ip:1 on Remote Desktop Viewer in Ubuntu, but get an error saying that the connection was closed. There are no firewall rules on my pi.

I bought these two things: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AS28UC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WB98FJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. new to soldering - safety questions, etc.

I have a project where I need to solder headers to a shield. I've never soldered before. :) I live in an apartment - should I avoid any types of solder (thinking of fumes)? Can anyone recommend a good beginner kit on amazon? Any good practice exercises?

I am running an instance of pihole. I wanted to add dns entries, so I followed this tutorial: https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/howto-using-pi-hole-as-lan-dns-server/533. When I go onto my windows client (after clearing the dns cache), I am unable to resolve a said dns entry. On my pihole, it works fi...

I would like to measure how much water I have left remaining in a bucket. Would this be the route to go: https://tutorials-raspberrypi.com/raspberry-pi-ultrasonic-sensor-hc-sr04/ ? If so, I have the 330 resistor, but not a 470. I have 100, 10, 220, and 330. Can I still make this work? And how does o...

Calculating resistor required for use with LED

I am using my raspberry pi (model B) to light up a Blue 5mm LED light. In following a tutorial, they had a 330 ohms resistor attached to the circuit. I wanted to calculate the minimum resistor required. I did the math several times, and it didn't seem to come out right. After inputting the variables...

more similar programming language alternative

I am struggling with the transition from languages of Java, to the likes of C++. Is it possible to use another language where I can still interact with the hardware, but yet I can still easily write up the code? For example, it seems that C++ does not natively support the String class.
