Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

I am trying to write a program for interfacing the nrf24l01+. I want to write it without library so I can really understand what is happening. I downloaded the datasheet and started coding but could not get the modules to work. I tried using RF24 library and managed to successfully run the ping-pon...

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

Hi, I read that you changed something about GPIO pins, do I need to change wiring or do you have any idea? I can hardly see yr screenshot, they are too tiny.. :D For the latest GPIO codes ( librf24 ), make sure nRF-CSN = GPIO8 and nRF-CE = GPIO25 (if you do not modify the codes in the examples... )...

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

I notice that using the low level bcm2835.c functions I can read and write registers. (e.g. set channel or auto-ack). However, in your "receive_payload" method there is a C++ call (reinterpret_cast), as I mentioned in a previous post, I do not know how to write it in C. I was told when reading and ...

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

A few things I notice... The RF24 libs does NOT use the IRQ pin on the nRF, are the sender running on NXP LPC2148 or Microchip PIC18F452 microcontrollers as per the blog ?? From the code below, if you issue radio.stopListening() you are putting it into TX mode and NOT in read mode... If you look at ...

Hello Charley, Gnulnulf, Stanley, I found your library for nrf24l01 quite helpful. I am able to read registers, set channel, datarate, all sems fine. Unfortunatly, it seems it is not compatible with the original library [1] . [1] http://www.diyembedded.com/tutorials/nrf24l01_4/nrf24l01_tutorial_4.z...

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

I managed to trace the issue to the ce/csn pins but have NOT been able to solve it yet..
Look at line 243 of RF24.cpp
Both the ce_pin and csn_pin was parsed to a function that I've removed..

csn(LOW) or csn(HIGH) in the code was not used as during the SPI session, all GPIO_WRITE is disabled..

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

The datasheet quotes "The SPI commands are shown in Table 16.. Every new command must be started by a high to low transition on CSN." I did a diff on both the RF24.cpp and found that all the ce() and csn() lines was removed from the bcm branch... Let me put back the csn() & ce() into the bcm branch...

I scope both the GPIO8 and GPIO25 and confirm the following... ( ignore my previous posting )

RPi CE to NRF CE ( GPIO25 for this example )
RPi SS(CE0/CE1) to NRF CSN ( or called SS )

*** The CE0/CE1 connects to nRF CSN and NOT CE pin ( this part is confusing )

Re: NRF24L01 RF Transceiver

Now, I m totally confused with these CE/CSN pins!!!! Is this the correct format ? RF24 radio(8,25) // CE, CSN Is the RPI CE connects to nRF CE or CSN ? Is the RPI CSN connects to nRF CE or CSN ? In my SPI understanding, to select the slave, SPI pulls the CS LOW.. So is the CE0 equals to CS (...

Re: voltage and polyfuse

Even your outside voltage readings are low. This might indicate that your Pi is consuming 2 much current. It would also explain why the Polyfuse has such a high voltage drop. To be sure about this, you would need to measure the Pi current, preferable when it's powered from the gpio 5V and GND pin's...
