Its wired, running using my Samsung Galaxy S3 charger (not sure of the details as I am in work now and my pi isnt here) its a 512mb version.

Will try your suggestions when I get home.

got ip address but no net access

My pi is telling me it has an ip address and after logging in i can ping my router but when i go into tthe gui i cant ping my router in the console. Any idea what i am doing wrong?

Good to see there are a few brewers on here, my main plans for my pi (and its brothers when I buy them...) is media players and integration into the brewing process :)

Yeah, just found an 8gb class 10 trancend card for a touch over a fiver in the local shop to where i live, going to give them a ring now, if they have it I will get one tonight as one of their staff members lives next door to me :D

Its a sandisk branded card microsd in the supplied sd adaptor (should I have mentioned that earlier?), had it for about a year still sealed in official packaging until i opened it a few days ago, was bought from ebuyer at the time I believe. I dont have another SD card (yet, suspect I will be buying one on the way home) I also have a card on the way from raspbmc pre installed (class 10, 8gb) but not sure when that will arrive, planning on switching between cards depending on what I am planning on doing. Sorry, should have mentioned that I have already done that too, I re-downloaded (direct download rather than from a mirror) incase that was the issue for the 2nd re-flash that I did.
