Re: Practicality of OTA PVR

It was several years ago that I built this.. I installed Raspbian, with kernel headers. Added the TVH repository (which I believe has moved to bintray.com/tvheadend and installed from that. The hard part was getting the kernel drivers built for hdhomerun. Back then, the kernel source packages weren'...

Re: Practicality of OTA PVR

I had this running on a Pi-B and it worked perfectly. I used a HDhomerun OTA tuner + outdoor antenna, with the Pi running Rasbian with TVheadend. I tuned the memory so graphics got very little. All wired network connections. I found the recordings were better when saved in .ts format. I pulled EPG i...

Re: Kodi performance

I run OSMC/Kodi on a Pi 2B and a Pi 1B+. The Pi 1 is a bit slow in the gui but usable. No issues with the 2B.

Re: RPi 2 withh Kodi crashing down with memory usage

I use Kodi on my Rpi2 - no issues like that. I would suggest you use OSMC instead of manually putting Kodi on top of something else.

If your power supply is under powered, you should get a yellow lightning bolt in the upper right corner of the screen (at least with OSMC)

I take it they don't look at dhcp option 252 and you can't define http_proxy in an environment variable?

XMLTV seg fault

I'm running tvheadend & xmltv on raspbian. For some reason, the XMLTV script for tv_grab_na_dd has started generating a segmentation fault. I can't download EPG data or even run the config. No changes to any software on the Pi - I don't routinely do any updates. I tried installing the latest XMLTV w...

LIRC, remotes and manuf codes??

I've been working on getting my GE universal remote working with xmbc. I have no problem getting it recognized, building the code table, etc. One issue I've had is the remote (on DVR setting) puts out the same codes for all arrow keys. But something I don't understand - you can put in a code for man...

Re: possible to receive ATSC digital TV via USB tuner?

I have tvheadend working with an Avermedia A868 tuner, though the quality is not perfect. I've also had some issues with tvheadend doing strange things - like disabling all the services.
Broke it big time when I upgraded the kernel, but I think I got it back after rebuilding tvheadend.

Re: RPi as a PVR

I'm interested in your setup as well. I installed tvheadend on a standard wheezy image. I got it to work with my Avermedia a868 USB tuner, but recordings have been choppy at best. Do you know if there's any advantage to using the raspbmc image? I don't want my Pi doing playback, just the tvheadend r...

I have the Belkin 7 port lighted hub. It powers my Pi, HDD, and USB tuner.

Re: How MUCH is XBMC/PVR working for others/you?

I just set up tvheadend on the standard wheezy image. Using Avermedia A868 USB tuner. EPG and all that work, but so far recordings are choppy both for video and audio.
