Re: Motion - MMAL camera

This is a great thread. Ultimately I'd like to use motion-mmal and the RPi camera module to capture 25fps video when motion is detected. I've got good results with 2fps video but am I expecting too much from the RPi to get 25fps at 640x480? I thought I could trigger raspivid on motion detection but ...

Re: Continuous video with Motion

Thanks both. Worked for a while until I realised the terminals in my RPi's card reader are temperamental. I've read about this on other threads so I need to investigate whether I need to replace the RPi or clean the terminals. It does explain why it would run for a while and then freeze unexpectedly...

Continuous video with Motion

Hi all, I've been experimenting with Motion for a couple of weeks and I've had decent results with a £4 USB webcam off eBay! What I'd like to ultimately achieve is continuous video saved to the SD card regardless of motion detection. Although I've got some good continuous footage at 1fps, I'd like s...

Re: Media centre which works out of the box

Thanks, RobHenry!

Just installed Network Manager 0.1.4 and it does exactly what I want.

Re: Start up issues

I was using a Dell mouse I had kicking around and it seemed to lock up the RPi. I've swapped it for another mouse and it now seems fine. Perhaps some draw more power than others.

Media centre which works out of the box

I'm looking to sell an RPi as a fully-fledged XBMC media centre which more or less works straight out of the box. I can configure it to boot into XBMC and have installed a few add-ons. The only thing I'm struggling with is wireless networking. It seems there are no builds of XBMC which allow you to ...

Network interfaces died on me!

A weird thing just happened. Everything has been peachy since I received my RPi, up until yesterday morning when the USB wireless dongle I've been using failed to work. Even after reflashing the SD card with another OS, there was still no wi-fi. I tried two different dongles too. It started working ...

Re: Openelec issue

I've had the same experience. I've been streaming from my MacBook Pro through SMB with no problems.

Re: Openelec issue

Is this a wired or wireless connection?

I ask because my wireless dongle takes at least twenty seconds to register itself on my wireless network.

Nice media centre

Hi everyone, I've done my sums and I think I've come up with the potential to buy all the necessary components, install the appropriate software (XBMC, on-demand, etc) and produce a nice media centre out of a Pi to sell on eBay and elsewhere, make a little profit and having fun along the way. One of...
