Re: RPi Subsonic Music Server with USB Dac

Thank you for sharing this - I'd got the DAC working under mpd by using plughw:0,0 instead of hw:0,0, but subsonic was driving me mad until I found this. Where you've put 'Then compile by running: #sudo nano javac audioDevList.java Then execute: #sudo nano java audioDevList ' I took out the word nan...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

I'll post my code in a few days - I'm away just now. Nag me in a week if I havent done it. Note mine is for a microchip 16f877.

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

Nice work KarlS. You do sometimes find it's just easier to go with what you have rather than what others have! I did find I had a spare 00 at the beginning of my reception which ignored for several weeks until I fell upon the solution (wasn't flushing the FIFO at what I considered the end of recepti...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

OK I see. Seems to be a method of asynchronous transmission, so the data rate must match the TX rate?
Still doesnt explain why the amplitudes vary in places.

There does seem to be on the this forum somewhere - google 'Panalyser SD' but then I cant track it down. Make sure you spell it correctly!

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

So maybe the SPI driver has failed on-board. Without SCLK you aren't going very far! As a test, I've just put a 5MHz signal through a 1M sampling scope. It missed most of it, and what was left came out at 1Hz.
Try the pull up.

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

There's a couple of odd things going on with that trace. 1. voltage levels of SDI should be constant. . 2. SCK should be changing state for every transition of SDI. I can only see 1 transition on SCK, at 18ms, which works out at a clock rate of 1/(18x2) = 28Hz. Hmm. I think we're looking at aliasing...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

I have also found that you need to power cycle the module after code changes Do you think a power cycle is necessary? As I understand the manual a software reset (command '0xFF00') is equivalent to a power cycle reset. On the RF12B there is only the external reset line - no soft reset. It's only a ...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

DCF is alive and transmitting. Quite by accident I found it. Once an hour starting at about 2 minutes past the hour, I have received a time/date. I thought it was the CRC problem I was trying to solve, so didnt pay attention at first, but then noticed the CRC was correct. I normally get say A8 C0 DD...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

IIRC 915Mhz is north america only. If the transceiver is bought as 915, you'll need to change a few caps to get it back to 868M, plus the setup. According to KarlS's profile, he's in BC, Canada, so 915MHz would be appropriate for his weather station's transmitter. btw - those photos would be good t...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

@avago Thank you for your moral support, my wife thinks I'm crazy ... Lastly (and unrelated), I'm sure that, from the photo you posted, there's a DCF-77 antenna in your transmitter. If so, then some of the bytes you're receiving will certainly be date/time data. Good result - looks promising...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

@KarlS Looks like the transmitter is sending the same message 3 times, as they are pretty similar? I only receive one set. The humidity figure seems ok ish (varies over the 3 messages), but I'd say that you have bit errors. Also the CRC didnt work out over the first 9 bytes. The temperature looks li...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

You have to set up with SPI speed at 5Mhz, then switch down to 2.5Mhz to receive the data Does this have to run at 5MHz, or could the bus be left at 2.5MHz for all SPI? (e.g. is a higher speed necessary to prepare things quickly enough for reception?) So far I've worked out byte 3 - 12 is the tempe...

Re: Fine Offset WH1081 (Maplin N96GY) sensors working on Pi

Thanks to the info on this page/forum, particularly the SPI set up from cii on his Clas Ohlson WH1080 (which is what I have) I have now managed to acquire the radio data with a RFM12 and interpret some of it. BTW, don't hate me, but I'm doing this on a PIC, but it all reads across. There is a lot mi...
