MagPi 46 electronics

Hi. Anyone fancy explaining in a ELI5 way about why certain circuits need a resistor for buttons? (Page 28 - hasn't mentioned why at all). Also, the voltage divider on page 30 - how does that work? I was hoping the electronics bit would be a beginners guide - the diagrams are just plug and play with...

Re: Errata

Issue 46, Page 31 circuit diagram - Echo (?) pin showing as black bar.

Issue 46, Page 60 - you'll need "1x MCP602". The diagram in the next page shows 2 used, but page 63 shows only one used. :/

Issue 46, Page 61 circuit diagram - all chips appear the same. Is the main one meant to be a MCP3002?

Re: ScotchPi

Just a quick update. I had a quick chat with Martin of the Electron Club. He's happy for us to use the space for the user group. The space has a good bit of room, enough to hold up to 10 people comfortably. Theres a projector for showing stuff on a large wall, and theres a wired router, plus ample p...

You know, my phone attempts to remind me of this every single day. I still haven't learned.

Anyway, fixed! ;)

Thanks for the heads up!

And because I can't seem to find the edit button, heres the site..

http://www.scotchpi.org.uk

If you want to, you can add you email addresses via that page, and it does the same job as my previous post.

Thanks,

Nick

Re: ScotchPi

I've made contact with Martin of the Electron Club. He's suggested a Friday as no one uses that day at present. I'm meeting him on Friday this week to see what can/ can't be done, the space available etc. Once thats done, I'll report back here with what I've observed. I've got a domain registered, a...

Re: net doesn't come back up after cable reconnected

Does this have anything to do with it? http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/3332/alter-dhclient-to-retry-fetching-ip-address Turns out the command line for starting dhclient is hard coded in the /sbin/ifup binary This means that the RPi will not try to obtain an IP address if the RPi boots...

Re: ScotchPi

The beauty with the CCA is we could arrange a once a month meeting on a day that isn't being used - even if it were only for 1Hr30mins to 2Hrs. This allows people to give a talk on whatever they wish, but still allow other people, if they're not interested in that talk, to meet with others and discu...

Re: ScotchPi

Just as an update to that, The Electron Club is a member of the CCA - They rent out the space they have. The calendar is available online, and means you can see what days are available to hold classes. Without looking to hijack any ideas, It may be beneficial to start off in here, maybe once a month...

Re: ScotchPi

Have you thought of speaking to a member from The Electron Club (http://www.electronclub.org/doku.php) ? They're based in CCA - 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3JD. They deal with electronics (Arduino's and they're building a RepRap). IT could be good for both - new RPi users, and experienced 'd...
