Re: In-car entertainment system

But 30 seconds is still slower then a normal car system. But the measured 30seconds of the raspi was with GUI, so I expect about 20 seconds to have a running system.

Re: In-car entertainment system

I was thinking about doing a clean install once the raspi arrives and then see how fast it runs. But even a stripped linux on a 700mhz processor would require at least 20 seconds.

Chrome is quite memory consuming, so it probably won't work very smooth. I installed 2GB of memory in my netbook so I could run chrome smoothly.

Re: microphone input?....on rasberry pi

<t>A mic input would be great for musicians who would like to have a small PC standing on their piano. I now use a pocket pc for sheet music (chords), but that doesn't have a input either, so it's only for the viewing part. And real musicians probably need better audio quality then an on board input...

If you read the article it also states that although arm is cheaper, there also is no standard in it. So it's hard to develop software and drivers if every arm chip is different.

That is really nice, I do am surprised that I've never heard of this before. I hope to find a compatible device somewhere, otherwise I would have to use a 12" display that I've laying around, and I have better uses for that display.

Have you found a compatible device in a webshop?
