Bluetooth keyboard losing connection

Installed my BT dongle and paired with keyboard via GUI as couldn't get the final connection to work via bluez on the command line. Paired fine and worked for a while so returned to the command line after exiting the GUI. Worked for a while but the keyboard went into power save mode and lost connect...

Re: can't view streaming in browser

Hi, Only tried to access the motion stream from a remote connection. Simon Same issue for me so used VNC on my laptop instead and it works fine. Simon Hi Simon, can you kindly elaborate how you did? Are you saying motion works for you locally but not remotely so you used remote desktop instead? Howe...

Re: Motion - port 8081, works on Android, not on Windows?

Using the current version of Chrome (Version 29.0.1547.66 m) on Windows 7.

Might just be an issue with my version or an option not selected.

Used Chrome on Windows 7 and Android 4.1.2 - guessing its an options or plugins issue for me as it worked on my iPhone.

Can confirm this works with VNC - more options as well compared to the browser view.

Re: Motion - port 8081, works on Android, not on Windows?

Had similar yesterday - it didn't work from my windows laptop using Chrome or IE, Android tablet using Chrome but it did sort of work from my iPhone. All were on the same wireless network. Did have to keep refreshing iPhone to show the new image though. Didn't change to port 80 as looked like a brow...

Re: how to stream video from webcam?

Thanks Dan, I used uvcdynctrl and it didn't mjpg format. From searching it looks like this camera doesn't support it. Is there another app that can do the same as mjpg streamer using the raw output and stream it? Or a way to add mjpg compression to the images from the camera and then use mjpg stream...

That could be it as not changed the default output.

How do I change this? Guess its through a config file.

Was just testing it through SoX.

Output to USB Headset

Got a Plantronics headset connected to the Pi through USB and got the mic working but cannot output audio to the headset.

It is shown in alsamixer but cannot set the output to USB.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Re: New user given sudo access but need to enter a password

From what I recall, but could be because it was within the timeout limit. Sounds about right though. Simon Are you sure it only asks for the password once? The reason I ask is that I have used linux for years and what has always happened is that sudo asks for your password first time and then allows...

It's a section under the device list on the network from connecting into the router.

Have selected to keep the ip assigned and seems ok so far.

New user given sudo access but need to enter a password

Added a new user and included adding them to the sudo group. When I am logged in as this user and run a sudo command it asks for the password first time and then runs the following sudo commands without a password. Never had this for the default 'Pi' user. Why has this now come up - do I need to add...

Re: SSH GUI Question

Unless I am expecting something else, have used lxsession and lxsession& when SSH'ed in and it comes up with this line: [1] 2165

Was expected a GUI or window to come up but nothing.

Is this the correct response from lxsession?

Thanks,

I use a BT Home Hub and there is a setting to assign the same IP each time to a specific device - if i do this will I still need to set a static IP address in the Pi?

Thanks

Thanks guys,

Only used the examples in the user guide, but so simplified I came acropper!

Will use wiringPi as suggested as it seems much more powerful than the standard GPIO library.

Re: SSH GUI Question

Thanks - that explains it! Assume then at startx wouldn't work in VNC either? Simon startx only applies to the Pi via the TV / HDMI port, since you're using an X-Windows emulator from a remote machine you need lxsession or simply run your X11 app by name. The appended & symbol makes any command run ...
