Re: RPi Touchscreen and framerate

Here's the official response from Gordon Hollingworth:
"Due to limitations in the design of the bridge 50 is about as close as I could get, but I didn’t try very hard… Will have a look again to see if we can do better"

RPi Touchscreen and framerate

Is there a limit to the framerate on this display with its current driver? I can't get consistent 60fps at 800x480, tested with mame4all and pisnes using dispmanx/GLES and its triple buffering. It hovers around 55fps. No problems with consistent 60fps on a normal HDMI display. Update Press F9 in mam...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

Is that to quit the frontend or MAME itself? For MAME you need to configure the buttons in the program itself, i.e. hit TAB.

Later versions of FBA will support other games but this version supports only the ones on the list. This version is used for optimal performance reasons with the Pi.

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

Vanfanel, not many games appear to support it in this version of FBA. I've got it working only in the CPS2 games. Don't think it's an issue with PiFBA as it does send service mode request to the FBA engine when the keys are pressed. bidinou, the aspect ratio should be correct for the games. MAME and...

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

bidinou, sdlmame is doing the video rendering effects in software (i.e. CPU). MAME4ALL on the Pi does all that in the GPU as it's CPU isn't powerful enough to do it in software. Hence it's limited to what effects it can use. The scanlines are done using a pixel shader and they aren't easy to write (...

There's already an issue logged for this on the PiFBA site. I had a look but had problems with the HAT on the XBOX360 controller. I'll be having another look at it sometime.

You won't lose your MAME settings/hi scores using either the Pi Store version or overwriting with the ZIP version. Just mame.cfg will be overwritten.

Re: MAME4ALL for Pi

pjturpeau, the MAME engine that MAME4ALL uses isn't very good at game rotation. I could ... eventually... implement this in the Pi designed MAME4ALL graphics engine instead (and the frontend too). Log an issue on http://code.google.com/p/mame4all-pi/issues/list and I'll see what I can do as there ha...

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

No problems running the Pi Store version of PiFBA for me with reconfigured keys. How are you running this? I've tried pisnes and it worked fine for me. It's so strange that the controls are recognized in the frontend (capex?), but not in fba2x. The config file is being read properly in that case, so...

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

kalehrl, all neogeo should run at full speed when overclocked. You've got the fps counter displayed? "--showfps" The mslug games themselves ran with slowdown even in the original arcades.

tinkernaut, try downloading again, I've fixed a bug that may have stopped it reading the cfg file.

PiMenu released

A simple, clean menu system for running my various emulators. You can easily add other emulators too. By default it will detect my Pi Store installed emulators.

Created for myself but I'm sharing as other people may find it useful.

Download it from here:

Re: PiFBA released - Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator

A number of games were fixed that may have been broken before, I don't have a list due to the type of fixes that were applied - there's too many ROMS to check. To get a list of games run "./fba2x --gamelist" which produces a report of all supported games and hardware type in a file "gamelist.txt".
