Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Small status update: The dynamic recompiler now builds, links, and runs successfully, though the speed boost isn't what I had hoped it would be. It seems like it runs about twice as fast as the interpreter, so it's still not quite playable. In the meantime, I'll be tearing into the config files and ...

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

HonkeyKong, That is really exciting! I didn't even try the interpreter as I figured it would not even make 1 fps. And that was especially brilliant to use clang - I don't know why I didn't think of that! Did you build clang from source with gcc natively? The best active arm dynarec project I am awa...

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

I got the new_dynarec.c issue sorted out. All it took was manually compiling that file and removing the -O3 optimization switch. So, now it compiles and links with the dynarec core, but I haven't figured out where it's looking for the mupen64plus.cfg file to tell it to use that core instead of the c...

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Welshy, thanks for the assistance. As of right now, I've run into the same problem as marqs and theidealist, with GCC crashing while trying to compile new_dynarec.c, but I've found that it compiles just fine when using clang to compile instead. Now, I think it's just a matter of tweaking on the Make...

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Well, after a weekend and some change tinkering with it, I've managed to get the libretro version of Mupen64Plus to compile and run, as evidenced by the photo here . So far, I've managed to successfully run Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Killer Instinct Gold. However, righ...

Re: [Noobie] Help Compiling TeeWorld

You're probably seeing that message because the RPi doesn't support OpenGL, but a subset called OpenGL ES 2.0. In order to make it work, you will have to convert the OpenGL code to OpenGL ES. Some information about doing so can be found here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1179249/opengl-vs-open...

Re: [Noobie] Help Compiling TeeWorld

For the ALSA development headers, you would run:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libasound2-dev
That should also install the standard ALSA libraries if they aren't already installed. The easiest way to find the package names is to just Google them, using a query such as "debian alsa dev" or similar.

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Curious how its going for HonkeyKong. Any Status? Unfortunately, there hasn't been any new progress on that front. I've been buried in contract work and haven't had the time to touch it for a few weeks. I am, however, interested in whether or not anyone else has had luck getting it to build and run.

Re: Can't exit EmulationStation

F4 is the exit key for EmulationStation. Also, if you have a gamepad set up, whatever you have mapped to the "start" button will bring up a menu allowing you to exit the program, reboot, or turn off your Raspberry Pi.

Yes. Both the NES and SNES supported 4/5 players through the use of a multitap device on certain games.

I'm also curious about this. I've been able to successfully play 4-player games in MAME through RetroArch, so I know it's possible, I just haven't been able to make it work in NES or SNES games. Any help on this front would be appreciated.

Rise of the Triad

I know this has been posted before, but it looked like the last version posted was dependent on X, so I've compiled a straight SDL framebuffer version of ROTT for everyone to enjoy on their Raspberry Pi. The files for the shareware or full versions can be downloaded from my blog, at the link below. ...

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

I meant the standard version found here . That doesn't include dynarec support for arm though. From a quick look, there's not much asm in GLES2N64 besides some NEON code, which isn't supported on Pi anyway. I got it compiled by omitting -D__NEON_OPT , but the plugin wasn't recognized by standard mu...

If you use the RetroPie installer, it installs a GBC emulator called Gambatte, which works very well on the Pi. I've been using it as my primary GB/GBC emulator for a while now, and haven't encountered any problems.

Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Which version (maemo / original) did you use? I managed to compile the 1.99.5 bundle for Pi some time ago with a couple of Makefile modifications. However, to make it usable, one would have to create a new gles plugin or wrap gles2n64 to mupen64plus plugin architecture. I got it running with dummy ...

OpenMSX

I've compiled OpenMSX for the Raspberry Pi, and thought I would share it, since there don't seem to be any MSX emulators out there aside from MESS (which was a headache to set up and use properly). It seems to perform well at a 900MHz overclock, I haven't tested it at stock speeds. To give it a bit ...

Re: EmulationStation - an emulator front-end

After some tweaking, I've managed to get TurboCD/PC-Engine CD games working almost full-speed. Mind you, this is running overclocked at 900MHz, and the sound isn't 100% yet, but it's much better than before. To get things running, here's what you need to do: mkdir ~/RetroPie/configs/turbocd echo 'au...
