Re: Raspberry Pi 4 possible h.265 decoder?

The driving factor for h.265 support is this will become the mainstream. Essentially everything will be encoded using this format in the coming years. You really think so, really ? Look very closely at the member list here, including the company names starting with "G" "A" "N" "I" and "M", and "B"....

Re: Pi 2 as a plain-jane home chromecast media server

Is there any way of eliminating the android element so that the pi can send the command and control info directly to the chromecast? That'd be a bit of work but yes. The chromecast command and control functions are implemented as a "sender" which actually makes calls to google chromecast APIs. Ther...

No I didn't find a solution. Lots of suggestions, nothing worked. Welcome to the wonders of Linux.

Nice. Not sure if this of use to you, anyway here's a bare bones approach which only requires chrome browser beta on the phone/tablet rather than an app. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=694676#p694676 The Pi2 is just a web server streaming well-formed MP4s over to a ChromeCast dev...

how to backup SD card ?

Hello. I have a number of SD cards of different sizes from various manufacturers. Some of these have good "Pi builds" on them. I am wondering how to backup my SD cards (image ? to a folder of backups ?) so that I can later clone one to another SD card when I need to perform a restore. At the moment ...

ie circa 2 fps conversion rate on the Pi2 vs circa 110 fps conversion rate on an intel i3820 with the same commandline settings. Hi, How did this turn out, I was looking to build avconv on the pi2 with all the optimizations, but if someone has ffmpeg running I'll go for that.... Why reinvent the wheel ? I like to do time lapse videos but the conversion from jpg to mp4 is way too slow on the pi as it is, so I've been cheating...

Re: how to compile ffmpeg for Pi2 (iterating to a working bu

Many (but not all) ffmpeg external libraries seemed to build using the native Pi compiler 4.6.3 for a target of Pi2 hardware. As a real beginner, I'm not clear if each build is right or reasonable though, so advice would be welcomed. The external libraries and their dependencies use different makes ...

Re: Compiling for Raspberry Pi 2 (ffmpeg external libraries)

I thought I'd try a native Pi2 compile using standard gcc 4.6.3 on the Pi2 for the Pi2 ... why not. My first attempt is from-scratch download and building from source of many of the ffmpeg external libraries, prior to building ffmpeg. I fluked getting most external libraries working with some trial ...
