Re: mpd mpc - BBC radio internet streams stopped

I've got a similar solution for this which also keeps the URLs up to date. It also has a simple command line interface (so you can just type e.g. "radio bbc4" or "radio 6") and a nice web interface if you want to use it. Re: MPD Internet radio - status monitoring

I've written a couple of scripts to make it really easy to play BBC radio stations. The scripts keep the URLs updated automatically as well. Blog about the scripts: http://blog.scphillips.com/2014/05/bbc-radio-on-the-raspberry-pi-v2/ Blog about a web interface for the radio: http://blog.scphillips.c...

Re: Loading radio station URLs

I've made an updated blog post on this now. My "radio" command will automatically fetch new URLs if they are needed so it's all as simple as e.g. "radio bbc4" and "radio stop". More info here: http://blog.scphillips.com/2014/05/bbc-radio-on-the-raspberry-pi-v2/ Incidentally, does anyone know the dif...

Re: Loading radio station URLs

You might be interested in a blog post I just made which explains how to get a command of the form "radio BBC4", "radio BBC6" or "radio stop". It's not very pretty, but does the job:

Hope it helps!

Re: UPnP / DLNA music playing with gmrender

There is a problem with the latest gmrender-resurrect code (which has updated since i published that blog post). If you use a slightly earlier version you will find it works fine. From the gmrender-resurrect directory, just do: git checkout be5eb1e6156182f410cee612767bf5cdc08220de then do "make" aga...

Re: UPnP / DLNA music playing with gmrender

I've published an update to this tutorial:
http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/07/play ... revisited/

It's much simpler now and does not need pulse audio, thanks to all the software and firmware updates.

My new post is published. It's quite simple to set up gmediarenderer now thanks to all the software and firmware updates:

Re: Good solution for uPnP rendering

I got this all working a while back and documented it here: http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/using-a-raspberry-pi-with-android-phones-for-media-streaming/ I'm just making an update to the post though as it's all much simpler now. In summary, if you get the latest wheezy distribution and update the...

Re: amixer reporting mono: no stereo?

Actually, replying to my own post, it appears that gmediarender playing mp3s via gstreamer comes out in stereo, so it's all fine in that it works nicely but it is still rather odd...

amixer reporting mono: no stereo?

Hi, I am revisiting my project for getting the Raspberry Pi to be a UPnP renderer (http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/using-a-raspberry-pi-with-android-phones-for-media-streaming/) now things have progressed, in the hope that it will all be simpler and that the "pop" noises will have gone. I started...

Re: UPnP / DLNA music playing with gmrender

I'm not at my Pi at the moment and haven't much time, but here's some thoughts: * Log in to the RPi * Download BubbleUPnP Server using this command: wget 'http://www.bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/0.6.4/BubbleUPnPServer-0.6.4.zip' * unzip it using: unzip BubbleUPnPServer-0.6.4.zip * find the la...

Re: UPnP / DLNA music playing with gmrender

I'm glad some of you have had success with my tutorial. I've not had much time for this project in the last week but I've put together another post detailing all the ALSA tests and configuration I've been trying: http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/sound-configuration-on-raspberry-pi-with-alsa/ It mi...

I've just written a loooong blog post on my investigations into ALSA on the Raspberry Pispberry Pi. It might help you:

I'm not expert though :)

UPnP / DLNA music playing with gmrender

I have written a tutorial on my blog ( http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/using-a-raspberry-pi-with-android-phones-for-media-streaming/ ) about how to install gmrender as a UPnP renderer (player) for music on a RPi. The tutorial also describes using minidlna and BubbleUPnP server on a media server a...
