Hi I had a similar problem with mpd. I found if I change mixer-type to software I could control the volume. Maybe there is something similar for you ? Not sure if these help .... :?: Also if you have not looked, maybe look in .asoundrc for some clues. good luck /etc/mpd.conf # An example of an ALSA ...

The following worked for me, but be careful with your own data. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=131889&p=879999#p879999 more details here https://forums.adafruit.com/viewto...

Re: display image on framebuffer, then quit?

I'll take a look at your new utility - I think it will be very useful judging from the number of people searching for a rgb565 converted.
it works. :)
compiled on the pi no problem. output to /dev/fb1 works too
friendly hat tip to you ...thanks

by -rst- » Tue Jan 26, 2016 6:38 pm thanks for the idea about "cat image.raw >/dev/fb1" - yes is is easier and less stuff to remember or bugger-up compared to dd. Re: display image on framebuffer, then quit?

It should be fairly easy to write a small utility program to convert from say ppm format to raw rgb565... (use pngtopnm or jpegtopnm first) I made some progress on this ....2 options: 1. ffmpeg. I thought this would be slow, but it is very fast ffmpeg -vcodec png -i input.png -vcodec rawvideo -f ra...

Hello I was looking at FBI today to use with Python but had trouble as noted above. FBI is a good program, but like others, I'm looking for something basic just to push an image to the fb. I found dd if=background.fb of=/dev/fb1 bs=153600 count=1 >/dev/null 2>&1 worked ok if I have an image in raw f...

Re: mouse position in pygame with piTFT

Hello, I think Pygame is kind of messed up under Jessie, well for the TFT at least. You can read about it here https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=798160 A lot of people will be in the same boat as you (and me) and right now there are a couple of options. 1. go back to Wheezy and use P...

I'm not an expert but I think it could be a waste of energy to have a pi running 24/7 for a door bell that rings once in a while.
Just a thought ....

never mind the pi stuff ... let's see some photos !!!

the one about the security will likely kill your car battery if you have the pi running all the time. Maybe you could have a relay to boot the pi when the door is opened, then the pi could send the sms message.

Re: No HDMI video for Samsung TV

Hi it is not clear if you are booting to the CLI or the GUI. I had trouble booting the GUI with my Samsung Monitor only to find out it was a problem with the X11. Can you switch to the CLI? Try "ctrl-alt-F1" to bring up a different TTY terminal in CLI mode - do you see a login prompt? To switch back...

Hi interesting post, something I've thought about once or twice. I like the idea of those USB wall sockets - could be useful in a couple of key places around the flat. I don't know anything about them but it would be something to consider. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Socket-USB-Outlets/dp/B00B9G6...

Re: X starts at boot after upgrade to Jessie

Hi

I think you just need to put a 3 in the cmdline.txt file to switch to run level 3
or
systemd.unit=multi-user.target in the cmdline.txt file should work also.

I've not tested this on the Pi, but it works on my BBB.
