Re: Need help on ISS streamer

So your determination was worthwhile, excellent! Yes, I'd like to know too, but debugging is often non-trivial. Now that sounds very nice, thank you :) I look forward to it. Here's another link for you to try (unless you're already aware of it of course). livestreamer http://www.ustream.tv/nasahdtv ...

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

You won't see any video differences as long as you have sufficient GPU RAM allocated. More obviously works as you've found, but you rob the CPU of memory for normal linux applications. 128 Meg's is normally sufficient for what you're doing. 4G? That is small. However, when you get your ISS running o...

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

Your Rpi's ram is quite sufficient for that job, & your Cpu usage is low because it's hardly used by omxplayer, which mostly relies on the Broadcomm Gpu. Mplayer's Cpu use will be rather higher, but both seem to work fine. In fact, it's running now on this Rpi 0 on which i'm typing this reply, using...

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

As long as you have at least another working µSD card, it's worth trying. sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get upgrade which writes to the terminal window what will be updated & you can save that text to a file if interested. There'll be several files needing updating, but it all usually goes fine....

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

Those ideas sound feasible & should spurn interest. As you can imagine, it's tricky trying to debug remotely... Can you try these statements from a terminal? omxplayer /opt/vc/src/hello_pi/hello_video/test.h264 mplayer /opt/vc/src/hello_pi/hello_video/test.h264 You should see each display the video,...

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

Bob, just to try & eliminate one of the many variables involved with this sort of thing, you could: sudo apt-get install mplayer When it's done, type: pi@s2:~ $ livestreamer http://ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload best -p mplayer & the response should be something like this: [cli][info] Found mat...

Re: Need help on ISS streamer

Thank you for those links. ISTR I've seen them before, but had no time to pursue the idea. Initially I was surprised you managed to successfully install the software from that second link, as it has minor errors, & even on a recent Stretch µSD card, attempting to run it produced numerous errors. I'm...

Re: Can anyone recommend a good microphone

Typically, USB mic's would be used with Rpi, so almost any such mic' will work with Rpi. However, you may find many more posts regarding *which* of those mic's work well for bird song on a bird site, perhaps RSPB, or on a site dedicated to mic's? If however you're prepared to spend just a little, & ...

Re: Managing multiple sound systems

Thank you for the URL's. Your guiconfig.pic doesn't show the capture tab contents. Is the red dot enabled on it? Also your headphone output is probably 2 of the 8 Speaker outputs on that pic. Looked up your Startech which has mic imputs but no guitar, so how are you connecting it? Did you try feedin...

"it must automatically match inputs and outputs" It (usually) finds them but may not get the connecting "wires" right, hence you need to select something lin the left & right panels & click connect. Next name & save the file to storage. "do in_1 and in_2, out_1 and out_2, playback_1 and playback_2 r...

Re: Managing multiple sound systems

I don't go anywhere near ~./asoundrc Anyway your Audio device Settings look fine now. You still have no mention of rakarrack in your jack pic's. Reasonably enough, Jack must have knowledge of it or it won't work. In the attached screenshot, notice in Jack's Settings panel that I've set the Output & ...

Re: Managing multiple sound systems

Hmm, what do you mean by jack(2)? ... Did you use the Add button in the patch bay to add stuff or did it just detect everything so it showed up? Install: synaptic then search it for jack. Initially yes, but that was a red herring, so don't do it. You need to make your Startech the default audio dev...

Re: Managing multiple sound systems

We have lift off :) It has some problems though. I tried it initially on Jessie, but no visible input as per your picture. I think now it might work though so if I get time, I'll retry it. I also had a midi keyboard plugged in, but decided too many variables, so removed it. Next popped in a Stretch ...

Re: Looping multiple videos with OMX player

You are welcome. Yes, any attached storage that the RPi knows about will work. Also, X-windows is not required, so Raspbian-lite will work for example. Omxplayer is a very useful application. The script can also be used for audio files, so handy in a museum for example. Attached is an improved versi...

Re: Mouseclick On The Desktop Brings Up Programs From The Taskbar

I don't think it's the mouse or SD card. It's not just clicking on a bare desktop for me though - any open window can trigger it. I've had this problem since I started to use Stretch, but it's tricky to reproduce & I was hoping it would go away :-) I usually have several terminal windows open in X, ...
