"I hate answering "pronto?" like all other Italians, I say "Si.. ?"." Our friend from Baveno always greeted us that way :) Ok. Any image you fancy really, although Stretch (Lite) is perhaps the most appropriate recent one. sudo apt install rsstail Ensure you check the short but useful help page, so ...

Pronto! Can you elaborate? For instance, do you want to run the X desktop, or just a command line (terminal) interface (handy if this will be your ONLY application for this RPi)? "shows one line of text for every event" - what constitutes an event in your scenario? Why is 100 a problem? Here's a sna...

Re: OMXplayer - how to choose better streams with m3u8 playback?

Presumably you use http://edge.metrotvnews.com:1935/live-edge/smil:metro.smil/chunklist_w880634683_b1492000_sleng.m3u8 for the first link? What omxplayer incantation do you use? So what does a high quality stream from https://www.vidio.com/live/734-trans7-tv-stream look like? The other attached scre...

Re: Why must the raspberrypi be so proprietary?

If you think the RPi GPU is "secret" you clearly have never worked with SoC's containing Realtek® GPU's. For a while I spent some time with their MIPS® based ones (ARM now own a lot of the MIPS portfolio). Only people that bought the Realtek SDK had any access to GPU info', & it was several months e...

" I'm still not sure how your problems are at all similar to the OP getting black images when capturing JPEGs!" For some problems it's really hard to be specific. For example although pic.jpg may be written, instead of black, it may be 0 length. Also I'm using a noir camera. There are just so many v...

Re: RANDOM VIDEO PLAYER FOR ART INSTALATION

In that case, a simpler application will do the job without gaps, providing your source videos are in .h264 form, or if mpeg4 you can quickly convert them on your RPi via something like gpac. The app's source code is on your Raspbian µSD card in: /opt/vc/src/hello_pi/hello_video/ You'll need to buil...

It may be simpler fror you to download the zip file from: https://github.com/paeryn/openvg/tree/screenshot Unzip it to somewhere. cd somewhere/client [email protected]:client $ make dot gcc -MT dot.o -MMD -MP -MF .d/dot.Td -std=gnu99 -Wall -Wextra -Wdouble-promotion -Wshadow -O2 -std=gnu99 -Wall -Wextra -Wdoubl...

Hello Hermann. I don't use the usual linux grabbing tools, as they are usually unaware of openmax, & mmal, so I don't know about the virtual stuff you mention. However, you'll find that this generates good png's via ssh commands, from omxiv.bin (& others) screens: https://codeload.github.com/AndrewF...

Thank you both for the useful details. 6by9 version is also important to avoid overwriting of the (top of screen) menu bar. Interestingly that occurs on display 0 (hdmi) even when I output the picture just to my attached vga666 display. I've attached the huge vcdbg output for the 6by9 first run. Sub...
