Re: Is this the latest Gentoo ?

Gentoo is a rolling distribution, meaning there's no real "latest Gentoo"

Re: Apple Cinema DIsplay

No reason it shouldn't work. You just need a male HDMI to Female DVI adapter to plug the screen in.

Re: Compiling V8 on Gentoo

Appears I'm the victim of this:

https://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=2393

If anyone else searches and lands here, you can merge the 3.14 version of V8 just fine, I have the binary package if you want it as well.

Compiling V8 on Gentoo

Every time I try to compile V8 I get an illegal instruction during the build: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/v8-3.15.11.5/work/v8-3.15.11.5/out/arm.release/lib.host:/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/v8-3.15.11.5/work/v8-3.15.11.5/ou t/arm.release/lib.target:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH; export LD_LIBRARY_PAT...

Re: vcgencmd on Gentoo

The ebuild actually has git code factored into it. If you just: echo 'PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"' >> /etc/make.conf mkdir -p /usr/local/portage/media-libs cp -r /usr/portage/media-libs/raspberrypi-userland /usr/local/portage/media-libs cd /usr/local/portage/media-libs/raspberrypi-userland ...

Re: New user given sudo access but need to enter a password

Sudo is simply asking you for that user's password, not the root password. It's just how sudo works. You can change this behavior by running visudo and changing the line:

Code: Select all

%sudo	ALL=(ALL) ALL
to

Code: Select all

%sudo	ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
Though it's a little less secure that way.

Re: Gentoo Linux

I don't understand what I'm doing different than everyone else. ....and imaged an 8GB SDHC card with all of these images but I don't get any video, yet everyone else seems to be like "thanks man, works perfectly" I know the card works because I can use berryboot-20121230 on the same 8GB SDHC and it...
