Outputting 1280x720 on 1920x1080 monitor

Hi, I recently updated my pi (sudo apt-get dist-upgrade) and now my pi won't output 1080p video to my 1080p monitor (ATM, it's outputting 720p, according to my monitor). I have an HDMI to VGA converter, which might be part of the problem, but could someone tell me how to make the monitor output 1080p?

Re: Siri: Open my garage door..

I tried changing the line on the file, but it didn't work, and I got the same error. There was another post, that said to move something into something, but I couldn't find the directory to move that thing into... I got the server to start, but when I talk to siri using a 4S, I get the error: Create...

3D Game Engine

Does anyone know of a 3D game engine for the pi? Preferably for C/C++. I've been looking at Unity, Unreal Engine, and Cryengine, but I'm pretty sure they're all for x86/windows.

RPi Powered LED Cubes!

Hello, I'm interested in creating an LED cube, but I have literally no knowledge of this kind of electronics. I know there is another thread about someone who got it to work on an RPi, but there were no instructions for it as far as I could tell. I had found a couple of instructables ( http://www.in...

Re: 8x8x8 LED cube

Would love to try this, even thought the complex circuitry would fry my nooby brain :P Where did you get instructions for this? I found an instructables page, but not sure if it's for the pi... Hey, I've successfully built RasPi controlled 8x8x8 LED cube. Currently, I'm doing everything - generating...

Re: Siri: Open my garage door..

Found the post by jarrah31, with that I managed to get "Starting SiriProxy on port 443.. Siriproxy up and running!" But, when I connected with my brother's iPad 3 (I've got an ipad 2...), the server crashed, and showed a lot of code that I couldn't understand... I'm going to do a clean install, and ...

Re: Siri: Open my garage door..

So, basically, I should re-run the setup, logged in as root, and then run "export rvmsudo_secure_path=1" before starting the server? @zstryker Please refer to the earlier discussion we had about this topic where I provided a summary of things you need to do, one of which is mentioned in this warning...

Re: Siri: Open my garage door..

I got everything working up until command 16 on the iDownloadBlog tutorial. When I type "rvmsudo siriproxy server" in the directory ~/SiriProxy, I get the following error: Warning: can not check `/etc/sudoers` for `secure_path`, falling back to call via `/usr/bin/env`, this breaks rules from `/etc/s...

I followed the instructions on idownloadblog, but when I got to the command with [$HOME and stuff like that (approximately command 5) I get the error "that is not a directory" or something like that (This is from memory, my pi is down at the moment, cuz whenever I try a pi project it doesn't work an...

Re: Integers and Long Integers

Thanks for all of the replies! I managed to grasp some of what was written since the last time I had posted. Like I said before, I'm a beginner (I started c two weeks ago), and I probably will use this this thread for reference once I get into the complex-er areas of c. Last night, I read how to sea...

Re: C Games

I'm fairly new to c, but my guess is that you can email yourself the source code (if it's regular c source code) and put it into your IDE on your windows machine (microsoft visual studio or code::blocks should work) and then click build and run.

Re: Integers and Long Integers

Thanks for all the help! I finally checked wolfram alpha to see how big this number is... Turns out, it's approximately 8 x 10^109.... I guess this program'll have to stick to smaller numbers... ;)

Re: Integers and Long Integers

Okay, by declaring singleDollar as unsigned long long (not unsigned long long int as I had previously thought) I get a return value of approximately -1 billion You are printing it wrong. The format for a unsigned long long is %llu. It will still be zero. We have explained that you need an integer m...

Okay, by declaring singleDollar as unsigned long long (not unsigned long long int as I had previously thought) I get a return value of approximately -1 billion, but I don't understand how the negative got there. Re: Integers and Long Integers

After a recompile, fixing the problem with the interest and changing millionDollar to a double and singleDollar to an unsigned long int, I got about $6,000,000 for millionDollar, but I still got 0 for the singleDollar. How do you declare an integer as an unsigned long integer or unsigned long long i...

Re: Integers and Long Integers

Why try and convert to a long later? Declare it as a long from the start and if you are sure that the value never needs to be negative then declare it a 'unsigned long' Like I said, I'm new to C, and the only data types I know of are long int, int, float, double, and char. How would you declare it ...

Integers and Long Integers

Hello, I'm new to C, and this has probably been posted on twenty different sites throughout the internet, but I'm trying to create a program to calculate bank interest. However, with my original balance at one million and the interest at 0.5% each day for a year (I'm just playing around with some st...
