The SWI's NetFS_ReadFSTimeouts and .._SetFSTimeouts looked promising :) but when called from BASIC by name or number ReadFSTimeouts returns 'SWI not known' :( any help for the Klingons? Change *PING timeout

Hi, I'd like to change the timout for the RISCOS PING command to something less than a second. I'm tracking the uptime of my router and currently the PING timeout seems to be around 10 seconds which makes second accurate timing, which is what I'm striving for, impossible. Can the timout for PING be ...

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

It does seem to have been incompatibility between the netgear router (VMDG480) and RISCOSpi that caused the poor connectivity - the older WNR834 reliably assigns the pi an IP address and maintains it as per normal. The share is still working! :D Thanks for holding my hand.

Re: From The Guardian

I don't see that Microsoft crushed the vision of computer literacy. And, even if one believes they did, that Microsoft say they are on the same page and singing from the same hymn sheet as the Foundation and other computer literacy advocates can only be a good thing. Regardless of what one thinks a...

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Yeah, nothing, other than a flake, could be that flakey :!: Pretty sure it's the current 'classic' build. The image was blown from a file called 'riscos-2015-02-17-RC14.img' which reports version 5.21. I can't remember checking the SHA total on that file so I'll do that before proceeding very far.. ...

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Nope, I didn't check policies other than disabling the Win7 firewall and confirming the validity of the share from another Win7 loaded PC, so it should have been 'legs akimbo' for RISCOS. Suspicion exists that the router may not be entirely RISCOS compatible :o Whenever IP is assigned by DHCP the co...

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Samba share now working. Think it was placing 'security = share' in the global section of smb.conf on the raspbian server that did the trick. Did not get the Win 7 share to share correctly, but did find a page with easy to understand instruction - but that didn't work for me either. [edit] Forget me...

Re: Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Well, never mind accessing a samba share, I thought I'd have a go at accessing a win7 share.. nah. After substituting the hostname with an IP address in the protocols/mount dialogue things got a little better and I can now mount the network share even though I reliably get 'Connection rejected by se...

Accessing a Samba share from RISCOS

Hi, I'd like to access a Samba over Raspbian share from RISCOS (which works just fine from Win7). Whenever I try to mount the share I get 'Access Denied' and sometimes 'cannot perform operation' from Omniclient. I'm guessed it might have something to do with password encryption (so I've probably bee...

Re: Changing hostname

Hmm, very odd. I thought maybe it was the router, but that rebooted (as it often does) before my very eyes and no change. I removed the IP address reservation and rebooted. No change. Once again I removed all cables and the sd card and phaffed around for a while and hey presto! New hostname has asse...

Re: Changing hostname

Hmm, odd. Changing hostname through the RISCOS interface has now worked but I'm not sure why. The only thing I did was to power down the Pi B+ and unship all cables (purely by chance as I had mis-inserted the micro SD card and needed to fish it out of the case after taking a look at the active parti...

Re: Changing hostname

Hi and thanks for getting back to me Brekee12

'sudo raspi-config' gives me 'file not found' in the RISCOS CLI although it works just fine under Raspbian. I see there is possibly an installable package that will allow booting to Linux.. is that a requirement to running raspi-config under RISCOS? :/

Changing hostname

Hi, how can I change the hostname of my RISC loaded RPi? I've tried doing !Configure/Network/Internet/Hostnames and replacing the default 'RISCOSpi' and typing in something else and clicking [SET] and [SAVE] and then restarting. The field retains the information I type into it even after a reboot bu...

Re: Various errors including ack/nak

Oh happy days! I got a 5.25v supply (and a USB to micro USB lead) and the pi now clocks at 1.1ghz, Just goes to show that power supplies do indeed fail over time and some power supplies, such as the one supplied my by RS along with the PI do this very quickly indeed because my PI has never reliably ...

I couldn't find a replacement power supply but used the old 'backfeed' power tricj via an old USB hub. The pi stabilised and I can now run overclocked reliably. Thanks rpdom! :D

Various errors including ack/nak

Dear all, My Raspberry pi is experiencing some sort of metaphysical dichotomy. When booting I mostly get ack/nak errors in an eternal loop followed by kernel panic. I've tried disconnecting the usb peripherals and that does seem to reduce the frequency of the errors a little but not a lot. Even with...
