Re: Is it Time to force Raspbian password change on initial login

Possible Scenario It is about protecting the SD card. If a user leaves the default login/password and transports RPI to a public event it would be easy to pop the SD card out of an unattended RPI and pop in a temporary replacement. Compromise the original SD and replace or remotely update users proj...

Re: Is it Time to force Raspbian password change on initial login

Yes I believe it is time to enforce good security standards and practices to protect users from themselves. Two factor authentication option could also be included. After seeing the state of routers and various other devices it is time to review current situation. Also part of the learning process s...

Is it Time to force Raspbian password change on initial login

I think it is about time to force changing the default Raspbian login password on initial setup. Currently there is just a warning message. This would ensure better security.

What are your thoughts.

Install Latest opencv from Source using Whiptail menu script

If you want to install the latest opencv3 version, I have written a whiptail menu script that automates the install steps. You will be prompted through each step. I have successfully installed opencv 3.4.2 on an older RPI B2 single core with 512 mb RAM memory and a 4GB SD System card with minimal sp...

Re: Video streaming in python code

Here is code from the person who wrote picamera python library. I tried this code and it works OK but does not have login security or an elegant web interface, it also needs to run under python3. You can add your own enhancements if you have some python coding and web experience. https://github.com/...

speed-cam.py now uses sqlite3 to store data with gnuplot and html reports

FYI OpenCV Motion Tracking Object Speed Camera (webcam or picamera) The latest speed-cam.py https://github.com/pageauc/speed-camera/blob/master/speed-cam.py now has a sqlite3 database added to save speed-camera https://github.com/pageauc/speed-camera data into a speed table. Re: robot off local network ?

Yes this could be done because an ADHOC network has an SSID that is broadcast. It would just be a matter of disconnecting from one and connecting to the other. You can have a script that detects when you are not within range of your SSID and then would connect to the ADHOC network and Visa Versa. Se...

It is possible for libraries to get out of sync and degrade or fail other programs, That is why it is always a good idea to run sudo apt-get update before installing new software since you can get out of date library versions that cause the installed program to fail. It can also be possible for a fi...

Re: Camera

It could be a hardware problem since you seem to have tried and test most options. The only thing I would suggest is to take a known good SD card and the known good camera module and ribbon cable and try again on the suspected bad RPI. Also I have noticed that some RPI's have a clear plastic cover o...
