Re: how to update

Above poster is correct. But to make the information complete: rpi-update is also available as an easier way of updating the firmware and kernel. Please note, as this firmware is bleeding edge, it really should only be used by advanced users and could potentially still have bugs and be incompatible ...

Re: What's the situation with DSi?

Any chance the Foundation overlords may share with us their DSI driver plans? Or at least plans for making an announcement?

I won't lie, having the camera whetted my apetite, while it will keep me busy for the coming months it would be excellent to know the timeframe for the display.

Re: socat, streaming, & broadcasting RPi-camera

UDP streaming via socat works rather well, after the latest rpi-update you should use
-t 999999
rather than
-t -1

Re: RPi Camera issues and status

The combined system and user time is 100 ms, so it appears that one second is spent waiting for something? Is there possibilities to reach more than roughly one Hz with still images with the Raspberry Pi camera module? It's the auto exposure delay - the camera measures the scene brightness and trie...

Finally received the package. Took more than a week, but at least I have my toys now.

Cameras came in paper boxes, squished of course, but at least they were not damaged in the process.

I'm still waiting for my order :( I'm 900km from the RS warehouse in Germany where it was shipped from. 859km by car to be exact. I wonder if it was sent by boat? Pigeon?

Are you kidding :D Looks like AWG12 solid core wire jammed into the RCA slot on one end, and in&around the camera mounting holes on the other. Epic

Hmm no dispatch email? Maybe you should contact RS for an explanation. I am still waiting for the postman, but the order flow in my case looks normal. 2013-05-14 12:18 Order confirmation 2013-05-16 11:56 Dispatch email, see below: RS Components Your Raspberry Pi Order ... has been Dispatched This is...

Could this project from way back serve as a hint that it is possible?

When writing your own OpenMAX code do you get access to the camera stream before compression?

Re: Case with Heatsink

I can't comment if it will fit at all, but IMHO having a heatsink and then putting a plastic case around it which restricts the airflow totally defeats the purpose of a heatsink. You would need to add a fan to force air through the case.

Re: Camera Module Project Ideas

Things get very interesting if you consider combining more than one camera-enabled Pi into a system: - 3D video by recording to two Pis at the same time. At $100 it gets the title of the cheapest 1080p-3D camera on the market. - bullet time photography / video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_ti...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Looking at the above schematics, and the CSI specification, you can reasonably assume that we are dealing with FPD-Link for image data transmission coupled with I2C for control information. Typically used as a connection between a laptop LCD and the laptop GPU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPD-Link ...

I ordered two on launch day, can't wait!!

But while I do wait, is there a technical drawing with the dimensions of the PCB, and the positioning, size, height of the sensor so that I can get started on an enclosure?

Thanks in advance

Problems updating the Pi "git fetch-pack: expected shallow"

Hello, I installed the rpi-update script a couple of weeks ago, and succesfully updated the firmware since. However today when I checked if there is a new update waiting I get: [email protected] ~ $ sudo rpi-update *** Raspberry Pi firmware updater by Hexxeh, enhanced by AndrewS *** Performing self-upd...
