Re: Django is very slow

Django is a lot of Pyhton code even if you don't add too much.
And, as I have seen, python is running on the PI but it's not to fast.

There is somewhere in this forum some bench between different java vm, c, asm and python and I should admit that I have been disappointed by the python result.

Re: Usb as sd.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. One downside to running from the USB is that the default way of enlarging the EXT4 partition (on first boot) does not work (or at least it did not when I last used it). You would need access to a linux PC. If you don't have access to one I would run either a lubu...

Re: Usb as sd.

for the usb disk, you can follow the same instruction that for the sd card.
I am booting on a 32MB sd card and its working fine :)

the tricky part will be to extend the usb partition file from the PI.

Re: Network problems troubles me.

if the ping is not working it can be a firewall issue. Most likely on the Desktop PC.

What is the result for a ping 8.8.8.8 ?

did you have upgraded the firmware of the pi ?

This is upgrading the kernel too and should add the driver you are waiting for.

Re: Controlling an ESC from an RPi

how do you have configured the pwm output ? It can be the protection of the ESC too: After power up the signal must be at 0 ( 1ms ). Then the ESC wil allow the motor to run. It is a security to avoid motor to run accidentally when the power is connected and the RC is not set to the minimum position ...

Re: Controlling an ESC from an RPi

If you own a servo, you should check how the servo is running with your application.
If you are able to change the position of the servo with your application, you can check how to calibrate the ESC.

Re: Controlling an ESC from an RPi

An esc is contolled like a servo.
In fact you can switch the esc with a servo to check if the servo is working better.
Some ESC have to be calibrated. You have to go to min and max of the radio (here the pi command).

But for sure I will check with servo before trying with an esc :D

Re: Raspberry Pi Model B (512mb RAM) frequently freezing up

I am not sure to understand but comparing a 35$ board with a PC around 400$ is difficult. A PC can have protections on USB controler and voltage regulators. It is not the case with the Pi board. So don't expect a 35$ board the same thing than a 400$ computer :) From my point of view, having this muc...

Re: Raspberry Pi Model B (512mb RAM) frequently freezing up

do you have upgraded the firmware ?
if not, there is an issue with USB and 512MB board and the last available raspbian image.
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 26#p249426

You need the rpi-update tool to do that
