Re: what last firmware commit contain?

i know and understand bootrom requirements. i don't mean absolutely cardless boot. i just suspect there are some kind of 'bootrom patch', which will stay here forever and allow it to continue with HDD. idea is to stop writes to SD card on every rpi-update if HDD is present. ok, so we must put bootco...

Re: Speeding up build time w/ gcc / g++

why no one mention gold here?
some times ( or usually ) linking can take longer than compilation. gold links XBMC on 256M for 10 minutes, original LD works 3+ hours for this.

Re: SD card end of life?

H2Tune is very good indicator for SD card condition. if you see some regions with repetitive slowdowns, this clearly advertises your card is beginning wearing. to use it, your card must be at least recognizable by windows. currently my card have regions with 100 bytes per second and these regions ar...

Re: How to make raspberry stable ?

first of all, don't hurry! don't hurry to hang up with RPI. it can be stable enought, and during time you will catch limits that you must not cross to keep it stable. be sure you have reliable power supply. phone chargers, and all similar sized/formfactored ones usually aren't. next you have to try ...

Re: Using 24/7 and 2 other questions

1. mine work 24/7 from more than half year till now. of course, i do not use RaspBMC and this can cause some difference.
pure hypothetical, if life span of my RPI becomes 7 years instead of let say 10, who cares? i don't thing there is such risk, but just in case.

or do not use turbo at all. use of 'ondemand' governor is way better than 'turbo'.
i thing it help in fight with SD corruptions too, but can't guarantee.

Re: Turbo Mode - SD Card Corruption - Model B

correct! brown-out condition can't be catch with regular DM. usually you will need a ( good ) oscilloscope. brown-out is power interruption, long enough to interrupt normal work of processor, but not long enough to start full reset. from other side, SD cards need entire write procedure to be external...

"Relax, XBMC will restart shortly. Press ESC key for a command line." is their way to restart XBMC when it encounter problem. By doing this, they hide all useful information that can be used here. May be their forum is better place to ask, because they can advice where to look for the actual error m...

i have no luck with galaxy s3 charger too. you can look at dmesg | tail and see if there are problems with your lan ( look for 'smsc95xx' ). i can't get mine working stable, now i use WiFi with disabled wired lan adapter ( only unplugging it doesn't helped me ). this solved other problems for me too...
