Re: Lowest latency way to send picamera frames (numpy array) over LAN for OpenCV analysis?

I have just come across this post and I notice in one of the replies you stated In other words, the plan is for this to be the "roaming assistant" component of a smart house, so I would prefer if its data is being held by the house server along with all the inputs from all the other components of th...

Re: Voice HAT Version 1 - servo constantly jitters

I will stop posting under this thread because the title no longer applies. Using pigpio to control the servo rather than gpiozero I can move the servo and maintain a position without any jitter . However I am convinced that with the latest google image when you use the pigpio servo commands the freq...

Re: Voice HAT Version 1 - servo constantly jitters

I have been investigating, thagrol's suggestion "Posts I made in thsi thread may help: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=279684" did seem to stop the jitter and I briefly managed to control the servo between min and max angles. However the servo then stopped working, I have been looking at the servo signals usin...

Re: Voice HAT Version 1 - servo constantly jitters

Thanks for the responses, I will try them out and get back to you, had to stop This project for the moment. What my grandson has asked for is a robot that responds to him, so I am putting the PI, speaker and microphone in the body, and use the servo to rotate the robot head backwards and forwards. I...

Voice HAT Version 1 - servo constantly jitters

Hi, I have got my voice HAT V1 working again on a PI B2 And am trying to control a servo. With no voice hat software running and using the simple GPIO zero servo example, ( please ignore any typos in the code snippet below, my IPad keeps putting in capitals etc) From gpio zero import Servo Import ti...

Re: Creating Google credentials - keys etc - up to date instructions

I got there in the end, google eventually suggested I start with a clean image which I did. So basic steps were to 1 burn the image 2 install in Pi and follow configuration steps 3 edit line 75 of "/home/pi/AIY-projects-python/src/aiy/assistant/auth_helpers.py": webbrowser.register('chromium-browser...

Re: Creating Google credentials - keys etc - up to date instructions

I have finally got it working, but I do not if I could repeat it, with lots of help from google help desk and random clicking of buttons. I followed these https://github.com/google/aiyprojects-raspbian/issues/616#issuecomment-643189350 and also had to do this Or, if you just want to edit the code di...

Creating Google credentials - keys etc - up to date instructions

Hi, I have got the original google voice AIY kit given away with Magpi back in 2017. As we are still in lockdown here in Leicester I thought I would get it working again. I have got the latest image from google but cannot generate the correct keys got the google cloud app. Has anyone got a link to a...

Controlling 433Mhz mains transmitter from Pi 0W

Hi, During this lock-down period I thought I would complete some of my many outstanding PI projects. I have a Pimoroni Octocam (PI0w) running opencv to detect movement and send me an email, i.e. a burglar alarm. It sits in the conservatory where we have some lights that come on and off using a mecha...

Re: Automated Garden Sprinkler System

think I got them from ebay

PI 0 W does not detect PI HUT "wireless game controller"

Hi, So I have purchased a PI HUT "Raspberry PI compatible wireless gamepad controller" and have been trying to use the approxeng.input library with a camjam chassis. I have been using the latest release of Raspbian buster , ( before Feb 6th and later). The controller is not always detected, I have t...

No sound from scratch, very quiet from sonic pi

I have just reinstalled the latest stretch version of the distribution on a HP ( Thinkpad ?) Linux 9 stretch when I look at os release. Previously I am sure sound was ok. When we load up scratch and play a sound there is no output, with sonic PI it is very faint. I have looked at some previous posts...

Re: Desktop now asks for Password on power up and does not accept it

I tried "df -h" and it gave me an error, I could see the boot partition but not the second, so something has been corrupted. So I have cloned another opencv image and re-installed the software, which was actually beneficial because it has forced me to document the steps! Thanks for suggestions Steve

Desktop now asks for Password on power up and does not accept it

For a long term I have had a B2 with camera and PIR which i set up as a burglar alarm when I am away for a long time. Pictures are taken and emailed and a buzzer sounds, it also switches on lights etc. I have been able to VNC into the PI from anywhere in the world to check the camera. So I have not ...

Thanks for replies, yes I have enabled serial port and disabled console.

I will see what I can do trap the error and restart the script, at the moment it seems to lock up.

Re: Pi Zero not being read by USB on Debian with RPI Desktop install

I had a similar problem and came to the conclusion it was because my laptop had USB 1 and not USB 2.

I booted from the same DVD on a laptop with USB 2 and it worked first time, it never worked on my laptop with USB 1
