Re: stepper hat

Yes, that is the hat. I bought yesterday an ULN2803 and hooked it up to the raspi and the stepper motor. I managed to get maximum around 85 RPM before the motor started to stutter.

Re: stepper hat

Hi Mikronauts, You made me laugh :). So, in other words, Adafruit's idea to use this i2c chip was not so good. I spent so much time translating the python code to C and understanding how the i2c chip works that I just had enough of it. I just want to get rid of it and use some ULNs controlled by GPI...

Re: stepper hat

Hi Douglas,

As far as I recall PWM is not used for single step and double step. The duty rate is always 100%. The PWM is only used for microstepping in the original Adafruit python code.
By the rate of change you mean the change between coils?

Thank you for replying.

stepper hat

Hello, I recently bought a DC and Stepper Motor HAT for Raspberry Pi from Adafruit. I wanted to use it in a project with a stepper motor. During testing I found out that I need more RPM for the stepper motor. I understood that the python application supplied with the HAT is slow because python is an...

how to tie one usb wifi dongle to an interface?

Hi, I have an RPi that I use as an access point. It's connected to two hubs, because I have many other dongles. Among these I have two wifi interfaces, an Atheros and a Realtek. Everytime it boots up, the Realtek is configured as wlan0 and the Atheros as wlan1. Well, I want the Atheros to be wlan0. ...

camera with model A

Hi,

Has anyone tried a Model A with the CSI camera? Does the small amount of RAM cause any problems with image or video capture? I want to recommend it to someone as a megapixel security camera for home use. The 5 Mpixel sensor makes it useful even without a zoom lens.

Thank you.

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

Actually the pi does not hang anymore. Only the 3G dongle is not able to dial the ppp connection. I can still access the 3G dongle by AT commands. It is probably a problem with the 3G dongle, I have to reset the Pi to be able to establish the connection. Otherwise the pi is working just fine. The AP...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

Here is my uname -a: Linux raspberrypi 3.6.11+ #474 PREEMPT I got even 9 days uptime without any problem. Sometimes I have to reset the RPi because the 3G does not dial up anymore. I mean, it does not hang, it is still controllable, but the 3G dongle has to be reset somehow by rebooting the pi. I ha...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

Frankly, after a while, and after some kernel updates, my setup seems stable. The only thing that drops is my 3G connection from time to time, but the wifi interface is working fine.

Re: TimeLapse causing Network drop

I searched the forum and someone else said that solved the problem by changing the micro usb cable that powers the pi. Lucky me, I found a different cable from a Samsung Galaxy phone and used it. I was surprised to see that the Pi streamed for at least 30 minutes without crashing. The old cable came...

Re: TimeLapse causing Network drop

I am experiencing the same behavior with my camera and a wifi dongle. I have a TP-LINK TL-WN722N. I realized that with lower resolution raspistill works fine, but when I try higher than 1024 it loses the network connection.

/dev/something

Hi, I have a question, concerning the camera, that bothers me for a while. I looked for online docs, but maybe I do not know where to search. Is there a kernel driver for the camera that can provide a device file like /dev/camera or something similar. I am asking this because some applications that ...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

After 5 days and a couple of hours it disconnected all the USB devices, logging the same errors. I'd say it's an improvement.. :)

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

I changed the cable between the Pi and the hub. It seemed to be a little thin. That made me think it is not shielded. I'm still not sure if it is or not, but I changed it anyway with a shorter cable from a SATA HDD enclosure that was a little thicker than the other one. Well, I have an uptime of 2 d...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

A week later I discovered that he cause of the TL-WN722N disconnect problem is a 3G modem that I am using for connecting to internet. Every couple of hours or more, I see in the logs: Jan 5 04:26:30 raspberrypi kernel: [14347.970945] option: option_instat_callback: error -71 Jan 5 04:26:30 raspberry...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

I was celebrating too early. While I managed to reduce the overall load on the Pi, it seems that the problem persists. I had to reboot 5 minutes ago, because the Pi hanged due to escalating cpu load over 7, until it did not respond to commands. So, if anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate ...

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

On second thought, it might be something else. I read several other posts that say that reading or writing to the SD card takes too much I/O. I am running squid and iptables on this Pi and I am using it as an access point router. It seems that squid uses the SD card as caching store also as logging....

Re: Problem with TP-Link TL-WN722N

Hi, I seem to have the same problem. I have a TP-Link TL-WN722N on a Raspberry Pi model B. The TP-Link is connected to the Pi via a powered hub that has a 2A power source. After a couple of hours the Pi just hangs with these messages: Dec 28 13:53:19 raspberrypi kernel: [12841.543655] INFO: task ifp...
