Raspbian repository

Is there a problem with the Raspbian repository? I'm unable to download any php5 related packages (php5-cgi, php5-mysql, etc)

Re: Minecraft server - How To

Is anybody else having trouble port forwarding to the pi? For some reason the port wont open up. That depends on your router. Some are easier to set up than others. If you're running Bukkit, use this plugin to automatically forward port 25565: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/auto-port-forward/ (o...

Re: Minecraft server - How To

I installed WorldEdit and WorldGuard. How do I get these to work, now? :P I already disabled TNT, for example, by editing the config file.

Also, to whoever asked, nether is enabled and sort of works. It lagged a bit for me, and I had to re enter the server to get in, because I got disconnected.

Re: Minecraft server - How To

Someone went into the server, took advantage of me being nice and having online-mode disabled, stole my account, deopped me, banned a couple of IPs and griefed many things. Fortunately, I can do whatever I want to the server and fixed this. I also reset the server - new map, new everything. And no, ...

I enabled nether on my server *scared*. Wonder how this will work...

As for generating chunks, I have a Samsung Class 6 8GB SD Card, and my Pi is running at 850MHz. No over-volting.

Re: Minecraft server - How To

While I was on about 3 hours ago, someone with username "PlanetMinecraft" came on, and asked for op. Despite me telling him/her/it I wasn't an admin or the owner, they weren't clever enough to parse my response and continued to ask me. Also said they wanted pictures - why would you need op for that...

That's quite an inadequate way of answering a customer, even if he is making unrealistic requests. Still, there are some requests which aren't at all unrealistic, such as an on/off switch.

So much better than the official MC server jar. Thanks!!

Also, guys, any ideas why the Pi sometimes does this while generating maps?

Re: Minecraft server - How To

I just moved my server to CraftBukkit 1.4.7 R0.1 and installed NoLagg and BKCommonLib. I'm also running the server with -Xms128M -Xmx408M. Let me know how it goes! randrade18.no-ip.org

edit: I ended up moving it back to the original MC server. It's faster.

Re: Minecraft server - How To

Ok, tentatively tried a few minutes (minutes, mind you) at stock 700MHz with the above settings. It takes longer to boot, and longer to start up the server, and longer to log in via a Minecraft client... ...but it seriously seems to run near perfectly, at least in terms of block placement/destructi...

Re: Alternative Operating Systems for the Pi

My take on OSs that some haven't tried: OpenElec (it's a media centre) - great, it works without problems. iPlayer and YouTube easily added as add-ons and they run without glitches. Stick with the default desktop though. Autoupgrades on bootup. Raspbmc (it too is a media centre) - much work needed ...

On Apple iOS use VNC Viewer http://www.realvnc.com/products/ios/

If you have a fully updated Raspbian "Wheezy" Linux installed then you need the VNC Server installed, Tight VNC Server is available from the repository.

Instead of downloading the Webmin package and installing it, just add the repo to apt so that you can update it easily. You can use this script I posted on my blog: sudo echo "deb http://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list sudo echo "deb http://...

How can I set a VPN up?

I tried PPTP but it wouldn't work - my iPod touch said it couldn't connect to my Raspberry Pi.

What's the easiest way of setting a VPN up?

I have a Model B rev 2 Pi running Raspbian. It's running as DMZ host, so port forwarding isn't a problem.
