Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

Is it possible to close the player at the end of the video instead of looping? I can't quite locate it in src/ubeify.py Thanks I'm sorry for the very very late reply Cordy hopefully this is still of use to you: Find the following lines in /src/ubeify.py: elif self.player_status=="new" or self.playe...

Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

Sorry to disappoint but, as far as I understand it, it is not possible to use bluetooth audio with OMXplayer. However, Ubeify can also use VLC instead of OMXplayer so you may be able to get Bluetooth audio working with that. I'll add a toggle switch in Ubeify's options menu to enable/disable VLC in ...

Ubeify Update: 20170802 removed uyt.py. Ubeify now exclusively uses youtube-dl to parse videos fixed bug which could result in VLC being used instead of OMXPlayer when running on a Raspberry Pi. This would result in the kind of errors Nick was reporting in the post above fixed bug which could resul...

Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

A lot more people would give it a try if you can make a squashfs-ready image aka berryboot image available. At least I'd try it out. Just not willing to wait for a backup to a 64GB sdcard, and flash this, and then reflash my original image that has a ton of other OSes preconfigured for my use. Ubei...

Ubeify's fairly lightweight. I spent a lot of time optimizing it to run well on an original 256MB Raspberry Pi.

Re: Speeding up youtube-dl

If you're just wanting Youtube, try Pafy: https://github.com/mps-youtube/pafy it's faster than youtube-dl (using the non-youtube-dl dependant version). The absolute fastest way to parse Youtube urls on the Pi is to use "uyt.pl" (http://www.ubeify.co.uk/downloads/uyt.txt), which is a stripped down he...

Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

@gkreidl Thank you, I appreciate that. In retrospect when i've said "official" method, what I should really be saying is "recommended" method. There are a few reasons why I choose to install youtube-dl via pip and not git: 1) pip is the standard way to install Python packages and is pre-installed in...

Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

Obviously you don't listen: Installing via pip breaks the official installation method (the compressed binary). If you update it via -U command it will update itself, but will use the (old) Python modules instead. No. If you install via the official pip method and you and try to update via the -U c...

Do you have a setting where you can switch between 16:9, 4:3, zoom etc.? That's where I have found the solution in my Samsung TV. Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

It may look normal for a Python developer to install it via pip, but it keeps all other versions from using updates correctly. You are right about the overscan settings. Tried disabling overscan and that fixed the problem. Re: Release: Ubeify Desktop Media Player For Raspberry Pi

Ubeify uses a pip installation of youtube-dl; this may conflict with the github version (optionally) used by omxplayerGUI. omxplayerGUI is using a non-mainstream youtube-dl install method which, by the looks of things, breaks previous installations using official github readme methods. You may want...

sunnyd, looks like it's a problem with python-pip on 16.04 (source). Hopefully it'll get sorted soon.

Does Ubeify run anyway after trying to install? Pip installs youtube-dl which, if you're only streaming youtube videos or playing local media, Ubeify does not actually use.
