Re: Home automation via Zigbee

I used "zigbee Deconz" in google an that led me to this:
https://www.dresden-elektronik.de/funkt ... pc/deconz/

Where they advertise "deCONZ V2_04_99 (Raspbian Linux)" and "deCONZ V2_06_11 (RaspBee Firmware)"

Re: Gertbot

Great to hear that.
Note that last weekend I did mange to release version 2.8 which supports ramping of the stepper motors.

If you work with motors and motion you will find that slow starting/stopping is not a luxury, it is mandatory.
I found out when I built the 'Toast-e' prototype.

Re: Stretch missing QT4 runtime libraries

so I often do more filtering with grep. As per my remark in the post: "apt-get list -all | grep -i qt" :-) if you want to know exactly all missing libraries for a binary use the command "ldd program". I know and used that one. In this case it only worked partially. My program was running but all th...

Re: Stretch missing QT4 runtime libraries

Thank you for the link. I asked at stack exchange but did not get a reply. I will update my web page to tell user to use "sudo apt-get install libqtgui4" Is there a command to list all possible packages? something like: "apt-get list -all" Then I could have found that package myself using something ...

Stretch missing QT4 runtime libraries

I received a complaint that my SW is no longer working: error while loading shared libraries: libQtGui.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I compared /usr/lib in stretch and and jessie and yes! in stretch the qt4 libs have disappeared. I had not noticed that, because I de...

Re: Gertbot

Downloading the QT4 libraries. You only need to download the QT4 runtime libraries if you get an error message saying " libQtGui.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory " At the moment this is the case if you use a stretch image. (uname -r gives as output "4.9.41-v7+") In th...

Re: Gertbot

Yes 2.6 is the latest but I have been asked for 2.8 which I will try to get out this weekend. I have not done so as I have not had time to update the C or python drivers. Revision 2.7 has support for servo motors. It does not use the power bridge at all but outputs a 3.3Volt variable pulse width to ...

Re: Gertbot

Dear teapot418 You are not the only one struggling with the UART on the Pi3. Shows again how one bad design decision can cause so much havoc! I also have lost track of what is going on. You are right in that if wifi still works you have something wrong. The gertbot really needs the actual mini-uart ...

Re: Gertboard with Pi2 Jessie

Untested! Alpha release is there. (Untested means compiled and run on a Pi but not with a Gertboard as it is 00:30 at night here.) Was not as much code change as thought as I could replace the hard macro BCM2708_PERI_BASE with a variable bcm_periperal_base which is set by SW using a system uname cal...

Come to think of it, could BCM2708_PERI_BASE ... be set automatically somehow so that the Gertboard can sensibly be used with the Pi 2 and the P 3 ? Cheers, J/. Makes sense. I will write new code. In the meantime the old example code for SPI and DAC can be found here: https://www.gertbot.com/other_...

Re: Gert's VGA - 888 possible?

In all the posts below nobody seems to have mentioned an Interesting fact: Not all the resistors have to 0.4%.
The big ones have to be accurate as their deviation should be smaller then the value of the smallest resistor.

Re: Gertbot Control using Python Drivers

I am looking into this.
What version raspberry-Pi are you using?
I assume a Pi-3? If so check if your UART settings are correct.
See here: https://www.gertbot.com/pi3.html
You might also have to add "core_freq=250" to the /boot/config.txt file.

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

I never know exactly what to do with git so this is what I did:
- Forked the documentation.
- Uploaded the file to hardware/raspberrypi/bcm2835.
- Created a pull request.

If any of that needs changing let me know.

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

Any patented stuff? No, as I said there is nothing special about the SMI. For those interested a bit of history: The first Raspberry-Pi 2835 was originally a 2708. The 2708 was the same die in a different package which had two 128Mbyte stacked SDRAM chips inside. However there also was a 2707, the ...

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

If I remember, I'll try and find out why we have never released that information. It might simply be lack of time. I have just created a stand-alone version of the SMI specs. I COULD publish it right now but I am not sure what the legal side of this is. On the one side, I was the one who decided wh...

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

We did some I/O test on the pi many, many years ago. (My god, I am getting old...) At 100 MHz the signal looked more like a sine wave. So my guess is that 50-75 MHz is about the limit. At 16 bits wide that is 100-150 Mbyte/sec. I am looking forward to see how far you get with this. Uhhh.... I have g...

Re: Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

Looks like you are using CPLD in the schematics so the IDE interface cannot be driven directly by SMI? The CPLD was 'just in case'. The current code works without it. (Although maybe it is needed after all to get the DMA sorted out) That is also in the read me file in the schematics. 16 bit wide me...

I will put it alongside the VGA on Github. (I never was good at working with Git so it might be a bit messy) There is also a complete (free!) database for a 128 port I/O card there on Github but nobody seem to have discovered that yet! Can this SMI be also used to connect two Pis and have bidirectio...

Anybody interested in talking direct! to IDE/SATA?

I recently found the remains of a project I started three years ago on my hard drive. The idea was to use the Raspberr-Pi SMI (which stands for Secondary Memory Interface) to talk to an IDE interface. Although IDE is old there are still IDE to SATA adapters so it might be used to talk to SATA as wel...

OK pretty stupid and basic but I have to ask: have you enabled ssh in the raspi-setup?
