Power led disappeared on Stretch - is it me?

Hi I've just resurrected an old Model B Revision 2.0 512 MB on Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) with uname -a outputting: Linux pialexa 4.9.59+ #1047 Sun Oct 29 11:47:10 GMT 2017 armv6l GNU/Linux I built it today from Raspbian Stretch Lite - headless with wifi (and ethernet as a fallback with the same...

Re: Using kernel LED class

This is a kind of overengineered response, as in it deals with a couple of other things, but you should be able to rip the relevant bits out for your application. #!/usr/bin/perl # NAME flash-ok-led.pl # AUTHOR Kronalias # PROVIDES Flashes the RPi OK (green) led for confidence tone # Flashing heartb...

Album Art Display

Here's another bit of Kronalias fun, this time about album art and a Raspberry Pi mug. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sarAySUgpKk The theory: Album art is great, and it can be embedded easily into mp3 id tags, but it's no use when you're playing music on something that doesn't have...

Re: scp ?

I use a little Perl script wot I writ that's not pretty and not clever but it works for me. It uses SCP - secure copy - and it uses the same connection methods as SSH. Mine uses passphraseless RSA authentication and a non-standard port, so just tweak those bits to reflect your SSH login stuff. Examp...

Re: Get a buzzer to work.

If you go here .. http://www.youtube.com/user/Kronalias you'll find a video of my Pi working with a piezo speaker. The code for the siren bit is in Perl and is a bit over-engineered, but you should be able to drag out the relevant stuff. Yer tis: #!/usr/bin/perl my $name = 'siren'; my $version = 1.0...

Re: tightVNC mirror bootupscreen

tightvnc only lets you connect to virtual desktops.

If you want to connect to the native (i.e. real) desktop session then you'll need to use x11vnc as a server on the Pi.

Full instructions are here:

Re: sd card life running a pi 24/7

Interesting discussion. FWIW I've been running two Pi's 24/7 - one since just before Xmas 2012 (you can prolly guess why), and one from about a month ago. All(?) my transient files are held in ram - either in a 32MB ramdisk I've made, or another chunk of ram that's used for all the /var/log stuff. I...

FM Radio Telemetry Hack

This is based on the work of turning the Pi into an FM transmitter here: http://www.icrobotics.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Turning_the_Raspberry_Pi_Into_an_FM_Transmitter that was then excellently enhanced by rgh here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=235412#p235412 If you're going to play...

Yup, but wouldn't that just be consuming extra power uselessly by keeping the 1509 IC powered up?

Here's a short video of my modded car display working with a Pi and Plugable usb hub:

The display came from eBay in the UK - here's the link:

Re: intermittent wifi

I had a similar problem with my new RPi, which is running headless. Now I check every minute for wifi, and if it's not there I bring it up automatically. You'll have to set up a cron job to run the script once a minute - just execute: crontab -e and add this line at the end: */1 * * * * /home/pi/my/...
