Re: using someone else's image

It can be done, not that difficult, but why do you need to use your friends image ? It would be easier to use a freshly downloaded one... easier for you, maybe :D i figured it was the shortest route to getting my Pi up and running again - my friend's image is customized with some things i would lik...

using someone else's image

hey all - after putting my crashed Pi on the shelf for most of the year, i've decided to resurrect it using a friend's image. using Windiskimager, i made a copy of his 32g sd card in order to copy it onto mine. however, my new 32 g sd card is actually has only 30 gigs of space, so i am unable to cop...

Re: corrupted text files

yup. i set up Samba on the Pi in order to see my shares (and vice versa) on my Windows machines. if i recall, i just copied and pasted the recipe files right into the Public folder on the Pi, via the network . thought i was all set until i actually went to open one of the files (all the file names l...

Re: corrupted text files

ok, see the attached zip file. now, i like to use Greek yogurt instead of regular....wait, what? oh sorry, wrong forum :D anyway, i put two txt files, before and after being copied over to my Pi, in the attached zip file - not much to see but that should illustrate my problem. thanks! text files bef...

Re: corrupted text files

sorry, should have been clearer - some of the font sizes are off, not the font itself. primary problem however is just an incomplete document with paragraphs, sentences etc missing. as i notes below, the files were just recipes, blocks of text copied off of websites and pasted into Notepad and saved...

Re: corrupted text files

thanks for the reply! just to be clear: - if i open the file on the Pi itself, it opens with Leafpad and is completely blank. - if i open the file on the Pi via a Windows machine over the network, it opens with Notepad and is incomplete, missing significant portions of the text. - if i copy the file...

corrupted text files

hey all - i imported a folder full of text (*.txt) documents (recipes, actually) into my Pi for the purposes of accessing them as needed on a shared network. everything looked good on the surface, but now i find that when i actually open each file, it is incomplete or scrambled (most characters are ...

Re: Which WiFi adapter

Hi guys, for my current project I need the Raspberry to be running 24/7 connected to my network via WiFi. I used 2 different adapters, but none of them worked for more than ~12 hrs before spamming the syslog with strange errors.. (One of them I even bought at modmypi). Is there anybody successfully...

Re: how to set up pi on windows home network?

thanks, pluggy...but i don't think i made my question clear: i want to access my shared folder (named "public") from an icon on the Pi desktop, rather than having to open Filemanager and typing the path /home/share/public or smb://raspberrypi/public to get to it. basically, how do i create...

Re: yet another noob wireless issue

i tried that wpa_gui...initially, i could scan for it, see it, but not connect. then i got strung out on another tangent where i installed the Wicd manager, which also sees my network, attempts to connect, and gets a "Connection Failed: Unable to Get IP Address" message (and now the wpa_gu...

yet another noob wireless issue

hey all - brand new user trying to get my Pi working with wifi, using the wheezy version. i'm trying to get an Encore ENUWI-G2 usb wireless dongle working. since i can see it in the WiFi config utility but cannot connect, i'm assuming i have a driver issue. Re: Keyboards...

i'm quite interested in this subject as well. i will have my Pi in a place where i want minimal peripheral devices. therefore, rather than a powered USB hub, i'd rather a keyboard/mouse combo with a USB dongle in one USB port (allowing me to save the other USB port for a WiFi dongle. it's going to b...
