Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

In the Toubleshooting forum there is a sticky post that links to http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting And specifically how to update firmware is http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Updating_firmware However, I had some issue with wget for names that include ipv6 addresses in the list of IP's t...

Re: XBMC Wi-Fi Setup with Official Wi-Pi Dongle.

Yes I was talking about "Program, Xbian settings" but if this doesn't run when XBMC restarts then you have problems. Fortunately Xbian is quite configurable like Raspbian so basically you should be able to manually setup your wifi access with the help of ethernet connectivity. First you need to exi...

Re: XBMC Wi-Fi Setup with Official Wi-Pi Dongle.

What's an official Wi-Pi dongle?? Did you run the Xbian wifi configuration script?? Richard S. Where's the Xbian wifi configuration script? Also, the Wi-Pi. The official wireless dongle. At least, I thought it was official. That's the impression I got when I bought it from Element14 - the bastards!...

Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

My 1st rev 2.0 Pi worked fine with (2) class 4 Sandisk 16 GB SD cards, but initially would not boot a class 10 Sandisk 30 MB/s 16 MB card. I then got it to boot, but after a random period of time everything on USB would drop out (keyboard and ethernet or WiFi would stop working). Strangely it also ...

Re: How to navigate Raspbian GUI without mouse

This is one reason I went with a basically non-GUI distribution, I also do not want/need a mouse. I will in fact be installing a desktop/window manager, but will always be able to start GUI applications from the command line. That is something you should be able to do in Raspbian as well, but I hav...

Thanks for the responses but (ctrl/shift/shift+ctrl) + numlock doesn't do anything.

I've tried both, but I read somewhere on the internet, may have been elinux.org that the SD card isn't compatible with the GPU for some odd reason.

Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

Sorry if this has been covered already. Be very particular about the SD card. The original SD card as supplied by the U.S. distributor failed to boot - not a surprising experience based on related posts here. A trip to a local retailer for a well known brand remedied the situation and everything wo...

How to navigate Raspbian GUI without mouse

How do I access menus and the main GUI in Raspbian without a mouse? I don't need/care for a mouse, but can't figure out how to access the main menus. I've only managed alt+ctrl+del to get to the task manager, and alt+letter works for buttons, but how do I get to, for example, the shut down menu so I...

XBMC Wi-Fi Setup with Official Wi-Pi Dongle.

Hi, there I can't get XBMC to connect to my router. I have tried Xbian using xbian-config, and it seems to interact with my router, but when I boot into Xbian it never connects to the internet. I am now trying OpenELEC and the same issue occurs when I use OpenELEC OS Settings. The settings are all c...

Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

I used OS X to format and copy the image onto the card. It doesn't seem to be specific to Windows if Windows also has this problem - unless it's the other way around, in which case I should try Windows. I ended up getting a 4GB Sony SD card which works. Shame, though, I have found class 4 to be cons...

Re: Xbian + WiFi where am i going wrong?

I have tried this and it leads me to a networking setup > WLAN. I've tried DHCP and it says it works, yet once I restart there's still no connection.

Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

Thanks for the response. I'm getting I/O errors and sector errors when trying to read from the Pi, the cards work fine on every other device I have tried, though. Apparently it clashes with the GPU somehow.

Re: Class 10 SD Card Not Working

My mistake, one of the cards was listed as problematic (had the same model number as it's 32GB counterpart). The other card was class 4 and not class 6.

The Wikipedia page should be updated:
"16 GB SDHC Class 6 Platinum II" may work but:
"16 GB SDHC Class 4 Platinum II" most definitely does not.

Class 10 SD Card Not Working

Hi, there Two weeks ago I bought a Raspberry Pi. I checked the list of valid SD cards to use on the Pi and bought two different class 10 cards (one Kingston, the other Lexar). Neither class 10 card works, but an old class 4 card does. I have spend $30 on these cards which are advertised to work, and...
