Backports Repository

I have started a basic backports repository - go to https://sourceforge.net/p/raspbian-backports if you're interested in contributing some .deb files to the project, or have ideas for new packages to be ported from Debian. At the moment, there is only one set of packages available, ZNC 1.2, which I ...

xbmc-bin missing from Raspbian APT repo

I am trying to install XBMC on Raspbian, however, I get the following error: [email protected] ~ $ sudo apt-get install xbmc Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situatio...

OpenELEC CEC Context Menu

I have tried most buttons on my remote control in OpenELEC, and none of them map to the Context menu button ("C" on the keyboard in XBMC).

Is there a way of manually mapping a button on the remote (e.g. the Guide or Info buttons) to make the remote control open the context menu?

Re: xbmc-bin not in default repositories

Tried what I thought might have been a workaround! I downloaded xbmc-bin for armhf from http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/xbmc-bin (link is at the bottom, underneath "Dependencies") and installed it using dpkg -i xbmc-bin_VERSION-NUMBER.HERE This only made a warning about Hardware Accelerated OpenGL...

Re: TV makes buzzing noise

Can you confirm that there is no buzzing when you watch other digital sources (HDMI or Freeview) with the volume control at the same setting as when you hear buzzing with the RPi? 1. The buzzing continues when sound is muted. 2. My camcorder (HDMI) also creates a buzz, but it is a higher pitch than...

Building an app from Source

Because XBMC for Raspbian is missing the binary (xbmc-bin) files (see later posts in xbmc-bin not in default repositories ), I'm trying to build by own from source. I've followed the instructions linked to from the XBMC wiki: http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianXBMC , and installed all build dependencie...

Re: TV makes buzzing noise

I have checked the plugs for both my USB Adapter (an ASUS Transformer charger) and my TV, and they both have a plastic Earth connector. I assume that this is because the DC input for the TV and the USB input for the Pi don't need an Earth signal, or are designed for use in countries (e.g. the rest o...

Apologies, I didn't quite understand that. Do you mean grounding as in the top of the 3 wall pins here in the UK? (Live, Neutral and Earth) or am I getting confused?

HDMI, as mentioned in the OP.

If I turn HDMI audio off (amixer cset numid=3 1) I still get the buzzing.

TV makes buzzing noise

When I turn my Pi on, my TV (over HDMI) makes buzzing sounds, which change with the screen. I have read this website and it fits the symptoms of "overmodulation", where the signal on the video input is too strong.

If this is the cause, then how do I fix it?

Which NOOBS download are you trying? The full version or the network install version?

Have you tried the Torrent download?

Re: XBMC "Cannot create GUI" error (plus others)

I already have OpenELEC installed, but was just curious as to whether I could install XBMC in Raspbian so that I can save space by using just one OS. I will try and look into this further, and possibly even see if I can't try compiling fro source, like the Raspbian website (where I got the link to t...

Hi! I am using Rasbpian on NOOBS 1.3 I am launching XBMC from the xbmc-standalone command. Another note: I get a black screen whilst the output I ment...

Unfortunately not - I don't know if this will make any difference, but I'm currently in South-west Greater London, and have around 1Mbps of speed according to speedtest.net (but Chrome only tells me that I get around 100KB/s when I'm downloading anything (I'm currently downloading NOOBS the old-fash...

Try the following on the command line:

Code: Select all

sudo update-rc.d script enable
where "script" is the script file located in the "/etc/init.d" directory.

Would Canonical's Unity Desktop Environment (the default in Ubuntu) be feasible to work on Raspbian? Or are the Pi's specs to small for it to work at all?

What distribution are you using? I know Raspbian get's it's time from the internet, and all others should, too.
