Re: VGA ever going to be implemented in future revisions?

The point is, that major manufacturers *are* still selling VGA-only LCD monitors. The tech may be "dead" but new equipment is still being produced that uses it. That's the crucial point. I have three old LCDs (15" to 19") still lying around that are VGA only. Only my main desktop monitor has DVI. S...

Re: VGA ever going to be implemented in future revisions?

If you need VGA, why not get a OLinuXino? https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/A13/A13-OLinuXino/images/A13-OLinuXino-01.jpg https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/A13/A13-OLinuXino/ Has VGA, a way faster CPU/GPU, four USB ports, REAL audio output AND input, an actual RTC, an onboard SMPS (n...

Re: My RPi php-Sysinfo-Script - no sudo access required

Nice script, but unfortunately it includes a lot of exec() calls. For every exec(), a shell process has to be spawned, which results in a significant system load and memory consumption. In fact, I was able to crash the RPi by repeatedly accessing the script from several computers concurrently. Also,...

Re: "240p" from composite

Update: I've tried it, and it doesn't work. Apparently the interlace bit is set by the firmware. I've started a new topic here:

Re: Progressive Scan RCA Video?

Composite video (on the RCA connector) is interlaced by definition. Your monitor is expecting an interlaced signal. Nothing you can do about that I'm afraid. Uh, no, wrong. Completely untrue. What are you talking about? Please refrain from posting in topics you clearly know nothing about. I'm looki...

Progressive Scan RCA Video?

I finally dug up my trusty old Commodore 1084 monitor and tested out the RCA video. Movies look good, but using it for text/GUI will give you a migraine headache as the video is interlaced and flickers like hell. What I'm looking for is a way to switch the video to progressive. Using a 640x200 resol...

Windowmanager starten musst. Ich wuerds einfach mal auspr...

Measure the voltage between TP1 and TP2. That will tell you right away if you're getting enough.

Re: SD Card Benchmarks

I prefer bonnie for benchmarks, since it shows you more informative numbers like file create/delete, random seeks (very important) and CPU usage for each test. Just do sudo apt-get install bonnie++ cd ~ bonnie++ (Make sure you're on the actual file system of the device you want to test. Like your ho...

Einfach über ssh sudo apt-get install tightvncserver vncserver :1 -geometry 1024x600 -depth 16 -pixelform...

Re: "240p" from composite

This is relevant to my interests. I've been meaning to try this exact same thing. Unfortunately I don't have a CRT handy right now, but here's the theory: you need is a modeline for your resolution. Add it to /etc/fb.modes and then do something like fbset -a -v "320x200 60Hz 16bit" (or whatever your...

Re: Adequate Power Supply Critical to Pi Stability

I've already whined about the F3 and PSU issues here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=25910 IMHO a standard DC barrel jack would be much preferable to the current Micro USB. But if you're looking for a good PSU, I'd recommend the Nokia AC-10E. 1200mA and has a good quality PCB...

Re: Passives USB Hub umbauen

Warum so umständlich?

Re: Polyfuse F3 / RasPi power circuitry flawed

In the end I'm actually happy that the delivery took so long, since I got a free upgrade to rev. 2.0 and 512MB :) Also RS gives you a nice plastic box that you can use in lieu of a case. My polyfuse was definitely never tripped. I hadn't even used any USB devices until much later (I used a VNC conne...

Polyfuse F3 / RasPi power circuitry flawed

I received a RasPi v2.0 512MB a couple weeks ago, after a 5 month wait time. I found that when I tried to overclock it, it would crash. I measured the voltage between TP1 and TP2 and it was 4.3V. Checked the PSU (Nokia AC-10E, 1200mA) and it was putting out a nice 4.95V. Then I measured the resistan...
