That still runs it as root. I was trying to avoid the Scratch user being root in the system. It's a good work around, and I'll use it for now, but would still like the Scratch development people to figure out why it needs to be root.
Thanks for your help pbanders!

Re: Scratch does not start over VNC
I'm having the same problem and I also got it to work, but the fix isn't a good one. In my VNC boot file I had case "$1" in start) echo "Starting VNC Server" #Insert your favoured settings for a VNC session su - pi -c "/usr/bin/tightvncserver :0 -geometry 1280x800 -depth 24 ...

Re: Using an iPad as a passive display for a Pi over USB
I'm bumping this thread to see if this has been solved since the last post in October 2014.
Since then there have been a release of iOS and quite a bit of activity on the Raspbian side. I'm still looking for a way to direct connect using the USB cable.

Caucho and JSPWiki
I spent some time today moving a 950 page wiki onto the Raspberry Pi. I'm running OpenJDK-6, Caucho's Resin server and JSPWiki. The hardest part was getting OpenJDK to install. With the rapid change in versions by the Raspbian team, it's important to do sudo apt-get clear sudo apt-get update sudo ap...
