Re: RGB output from video port

I have had this problem as well. We will have to get jamesh to comment on this since he implemented the GPU RGB encoding. A feature request was submitted four months ago for this and outputting the associated frame data: https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland/issues/28

Re: raspivid -> h264 parse -> RGB using gstreamer

No, I did not have any luck going this route. However, I found that pure RGB streaming was possible with GPU acceleration. I had jamesh implement I420 -> BGR24 conversion in the GPU so it is possible to modify raspivid to output in BGR24 (RGB888) colorspace. However, I have yet to get it to work rel...

Re: ROS node for camera module

Holy *bleep*, you're the man (or woman)! I've been trying to do this for MONTHS.

I'll also work with the node and see if I can make any improvements.

THANKS AGAIN!

*EDIT: Nevermind on the suggestion that was here. I'm blind.

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

Has anyone been able to make this work with yuv420 output into gstreamer-0.10 yet? I keep getting a blank preview and no frames being processed by gstreamer. After a few minutes of running like that, it gives me an error that the format could not be negotiated. Here is an example of the pipeline I'm...

Re: RaspiVidYUV

It looks like Userland may have been updated without the firmware update. Is this what happened? I thought firmware was being released last Friday - there may have been a delay - Dom certainly flagged up an error in the raspistill pull request (which I need to fiture out). That may have delayed the...

Re: RaspiVidYUV

Thanks again. I understand it won't be ready until the new firmware is released. Would it be possible for you to send me your modified raspistillYUV? It would be highly appreciated. Again, thanks so much for all of your help and contributions to the project.

In other news, I have confirmed that my current camera is dead. However, I found that www.mcmelectronics.com will have some in stock on the 17th of July!

Re: RaspiVidYUV

jamesh - That's awesome! Thanks so much! Did you add a new FourCC code to mmal_encodings.h and just use that as the encoding type in RaspiStillYUV or use some other method? I'm not super familiar with how to define new encoding types in mmal.

Re: Experiment with Camera Module : MMAL, OpenCV, Overlay

Since it was a straight fork, asking him to include your changes is easy! Just go to "Pull Requests" on the right and click "Create New Pull Request." Compare the master branch of his repo with the develop branch of yours and create the request with your justification. He'll get ...

It looks like the ROS plugin I'm trying to use (gscam) can only handle RGB8 (no alpha), so let's go with that. Thanks so much for your help!

Re: RaspiVidYUV

Thanks for looking into it, though. I might try to implement it on the CPU in C anyway just to see how much latency it actually adds (once I receive my new camera). If anyone else has time, I'd really appreciate some feedback on the status of this code - and some pull requests if you are willing.

Re: RaspiVidYUV

jamesh - I think you're probably right. The code that I started with was doing the conversion from YUV to RGB but was doing it with OpenCV which was much too slow. I thought, since Gstreamer has some GPU support already, I might be able to do the conversion using Gstreamer without having to write th...

RaspiVidYUV

For my purposes (creating a node in ROS), I need a raw RGB stream from the CSI camera. Unfortunately, getting that from RaspiVid using gstreamer-1.0 has proven difficult and slow. Because of this, I decided to modify RaspiVid to stream out raw YUV and use gstreamer to convert YUV to RGB. Most of my ...

Re: GStreamer 1.0

Also, for anyone who encounters the above compiler problem, it apparently only occurs with gcc-4.6. I installed gcc-4.4 and ran:

Code: Select all

make CC=gcc-4.4
and everything worked correctly. This is apparently a known (but not fixed) bug with this version of gcc.

Re: GStreamer 1.0

I was planning to use it for ffdec_h264. However, I may be going about what I need the wrong way. I need to take the output from raspivid (h264 YUV) and simply turn it into a raw RGB stream. I assumed h264 decoding was necessary for that but maybe I just need parsing - not sure. Can you suggest a pi...

Re: GStreamer 1.0

I wanted to mention that your install script is awesome (Thanks!) but I found a small issue with it (and a second, larger issue that I'll get to in a second). The small issue is that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is only set prior to building gst-plugins-bad and not earlier in the script. After looking at my inst...

raspivid -> h264 parse -> RGB using gstreamer

I need to take the h264 video that comes from raspivid, parse it, and convert it to RGB using gstreamer. I'm pretty sure that the following will do everything except conversion to RGB: raspivid -t 999999 -h 720 -w 1080 -fps 25 -hf -b 2000000 -o - | gst-launch-1.0 -v fdsrc ! h264parse ! xvideosink Do...

Re: Experiment with Camera Module : MMAL, OpenCV, Overlay

I cannot believe no one has replied to this yet. THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is going to save me SO MUCH TIME. I had just started to dig into the MMAL API and it looks like such a monster. I am using this to build a driver for the Robot Operating System (ROS) and this will definitely help me a huge amou...

Re: Speech Recognition with Pocketsphinx

Just a tip: If you install the python development headers (python-dev and/or python2.7-dev) before building sphinxbase and pocketsphinx, the Python API module will be installed by default. This way, you can simply: import pocketsphinx as ps speechRec = ps.Decoder() wavFile = file(wavfile,'rb') wavFi...
