How to change wifi adapter driver

I having been happily using my Pi for a year now. A couple of weeks ago my USB wifi adapter (RT5370) stopped working. It can still see the SSIDs, but for some reason it cannot connect to my wifi network. I tried using it on my Windows PC and it worked fine, I also tried buying a new one and have the...

XBMC librtmp update

I have installed Michael Gorven's build of xbmc on top of raspbian. It's working fine, but now I'd like to install the SportsDevil add-on, which requires me to update the librtmp file. Does anyone know how to do it in that xbmc build?

Thanks!

Booting with screen off

I've got my pi connected through hdmi to my tv screen. As long as I boot it up with the TV set the the hdmi out, it works fine, but if I boot it with the tv off or in another video mode, when I then turn the tv on or change it to hdmi out, I get a blank screen. Is there any way to fix this? It's not...

Re: Root file system full and can't boot

Thanks for all the useful help everyone. I was able to access the root file system from my friend's Ubuntu; I found that a big chunk of the space was occupied by .deb files in the /var/cache/apt/archive folder, and most them are really old. I'm guessing these are the package files that are downloade...

Re: Root file system full and can't boot

I tried that but the FAT partition only has a few files, with about 10MB in it.

Root file system full and can't boot

I ran upgrade-dist today and noticed it was complaining about the root file system not having enough space. After it finished I tried rebooting and during the boot sequence I again got a warning about space in the root file system, and before loading X the screen goes black. I think the space issue ...

Re: DTV interference from Pi?

Thanks drgeof, I've been playing around with the cable arrangement and have recovered the missing channels. I bought cheap hdmi and coax tv leads, so I'm guessing they're not very well shielded and that must be the main reason for the problem, if it happens again I'll buy better cables. Thanks for t...

DTV interference from Pi?

I seem to be having interference problems on my digital tv signal whenever I have my raspi running. It's only with some channels. I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem and knows how to resolve it. Just to clear up, I'm not using my pi as a DTV tuner, I have it connected to my tv...

Re: omxplayer won't render subtitles

There is probably not enough GPU memory available. You can try changing your memory split, or download this version https://github.com/torarin/omxplayer/downloads, which uses less memory. I tried downloading the latest version from this site and now my subtitles are shown, but I don't get any audio...

How to configure wifi in Xbian without ethernet

I've just mounted the xbian 1.0 alpha 3 image on my sd card. I have my rpi hooked up to my LCD-tv and its far away from my Internet router. Is there anyway to configure my wifi dongle without having to connect through the Ethernet jack first? I've read that xbian settings has an install wifi on next...
