Re: LSM303 Precision

Thanks, the Adafruit link is helping. I am averaging the angles so I will change that to average the raw values. I am using a moving average. It seems to be working a little better. I wrote this code at least a year ago and am having fun remembering why I did some things the way I did. Thanks for th...

LSM303 Precision

Not sure if this is an advanced question or not. I am using a LSM303 to determine when the camper on my truck is level. My problem is that the level jumps all over the place. I have tried different configurations with the LSM303 but it continues to give angles that jump around way too much. Currentl...

Re: MJPG stream is not working with kernel 3.18

Thanks! Another MJPG_streamer happy user! I received my Pi 2 and thought the issue had something to do with the new board. But was wrong. Back up and running!

Re: Pi 2 and MJPG Streamer

Hey Gravesy,

Fixed! Thanks for finding that for me. I did try and go back to my model B pi and decided to upgrade it at the same time, which kept it from working as well. I run mjpg_streamer during the day, and motion at night.

I am back in business!

Thanks!

Pi 2 and MJPG Streamer

I received a Pi 2 and decided to see what kind of improvement I would get with Motion. Motion does seem a little faster, although I have not done any measurements. But, MJPG_Streamer is not working. I recompiled it using, what I think is, the latest revision. When starting it, there are no error mes...

Re: VOIP Between two Autos?

I currently use GMRS radios which, although have a short range when used inside the car, work pretty good. CB is an AM broadcast and when conditions are ideal, will pick up stations thousands of miles/kilometers away so interference can be an issue. I was looking for a higher quality audio system th...

Re: How to post file from a rpi on a web server

I had a project where I needed to push a file from a local computer to my web page on the Internet. I used "ftp". Security is not great, since the password needed to be included on the ftp command line but it got me by. I think I was using lua and used the os.execute function. Most languages have a ...

Re: VOIP Between two Autos?

Thanks JungleBoogie, I am thinking that, while driving between camp sites, there will be many locations where we will not have data service so no internet. But I will need to start somewhere. I also like the idea of the phone app, since the phone will connect to the Bluetooth in the automobile and I...

VOIP Between two Autos?

I need an audio communication system between two automobiles. I would like to be able to communicate between two automobiles using two Raspberry Pi. I already have one Raspberry Pi operating in my camper (car 1) and is configured as a wireless network server. I would like to connect it, to the stere...

Re: Moving SD card from Model B to Model A

Thanks rpdom, I expected the I2C address change was probably going to happen, which should be easy for me to change. There is a short window between when I get the new Pi and when I depart on a camping trip and, figured it would hurt to check for any surprises. My Model B Pi is out in my camper on m...

Moving SD card from Model B to Model A

I have a Model A Raspberry Pi in the mail and want to just move my SD card from my 256 meg Model B to the 256 meg model A, when it arrives. I need lower power consumption on my batteries and the switch to the Model A will be a great help. I currently am using a USB wireless network setup and not the...

Re: GPS Project

Bluetooth GPS devices are also available. You would need to add a USB Bluetooth device to the Pi so you could talk to the Bluetooth GPS. My Bluetooth GPS has a battery but I keep power applied to it through a micro USB connector since it runs all the time. You mentioned wireless so I figured I would...

Re: Static IP Messing up Wireless

Your IP address is 192.168.1.127 and your gateway is 192.168.0.1. So you can't get to the gateway because it is on another subnet. The gateway needs to have an address on 192.168.1.X. So the Pi can access it directly. Or your Pi needs to be like 192.168.0.127. The Pi needs to be on the same subnet a...

Both a Wireless AP and a Wireless Client at the same time?

I have a camper on my truck. The Pi in the camper monitors various temperatures and voltages using a 1-wire setup. It also controls added fans on the refrigerator. I have yet to choose a monitor for inside the camper and currently just connect to the Pi over a USB wireless. While at home, the Pi is ...

Re: Wireless Problems

thaimann, Doubt this is your problem but I saw you mentioned 1-wire. I was not able to get my 1-wire to work properly until after I updated to 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian. Or a kernel update should also work. I did a kernel update to 3.6.11 and things started working much better after that. My 1-wire...

Re: Raspberry freeze

Hey mathiask I did the update this morning and, it does need to run longer, but after about 15 hours of continuous reading of my 1-wire sensors over the USB dongle, things are looking pretty sweet! The syslog no longer has "failed to read index 000114" or "failed to read index 000118" every 10 to 20...

Re: Problems with serial port adaptors?

This morning, I did a kernel update based on http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=33261&p=284800#p284800 to the latest bleeding edge kernel. It has run all day which, like before, is promising. Before, the syslog had many "failed to read index 000114" or "failed to read index 00011...

Re: Problems with serial port adaptors?

Well, it died after just under 6 hours. But, since my setup is so different than yours, it really does not add to your testing. I just had my fingers crossed that it might fix my problems as well. When my cron script gets a temperature from the 1-wire server, it sometimes hangs. So, at the next cron...

Re: Problems with serial port adaptors?

Eight hours and it is still running. I have two SSH windows open to the Pi. After the sun comes up and hits the cam...

I am having problems using my "1-wire" interface either using the USB adapter or a USB to serial adapter. After a random amount of time I loose network connection to the Pi. I am also using a USB wireless adapter. I started your perl script and will let it run overnight and cross my fingers. My USB ...

Thanks joan and efflandt, I looked at efflandt's link quickly and it looks pretty easy. One thing I am worried about is making sure I don't loose a system console for emergencies. Program will write to the console at end of boot?

My pi is running in my truck camper. It monitors temperatures voltages GPS data and anything else I might come up with. I would like to start a program at the end of the boot process (rc.local) that will display the camper information, probably using lua curses on the display. I need to learn how to...
