Re: Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

Thank you Surfer Tim! I have been asking RPi experts how to solve the browser problem for the last couple of years. Your suggestion of: chromium-browser --proxy-server="12.34.56.78:8080" Works perfectly. If I use your instructions for the desktop launcher what will it do? Does it automatically launc...

Sonic Pi not working on all new everything

Hi all, New class set of Pi3 So downloaded latest Noobs, installed Raspbian (this was yesterday), got it to work with our proxy server to do alt-get. Updated/upgraded. All looked good so cloned the SDcard several times, checked cards booted okay. Gave cards to students today and did a Sonic Pi lesso...

Re: Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

Garrrhhhh, now Sonic Pi is refusing to work!

Typical, I tested all my students cards to make sure that they booted up okay. They all did, but when they tried launching Sonic Pi it refused to work :(

Will post this as new thread with details

Re: Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

If a user and password are not required, just use the server and port. chromium-browser --proxy-server="12.34.56.78:8080" Unfortunately you can't change the proxy settings in chromium gui. If I run from terminal would I have to do this everytime I need to use chromium? I work with SEN students who ...

Re: Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

This didn't work? https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18634 It appears the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10proxy file create then edit works. I haven't tried it. THANK YOU Surfer Tim. I did a clean install and then followed your lead to get apt-get working. Still no web browser but that has al...

Re: Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

Was it a card with NOOBS on it? If so, what version of NOOBS? I just updated the card today so it has the latest version of NOOBS NoobS is actually an installer / chooser and it is not easy to update from one version to another, so what version did you start from to end up at NoobS version 2.4.3 ? ...

Upgrade to Pi3 and Stretch not going well

Hi all, I'm a teacher and have just upgraded my class set of Pi2 to Pi3. Putting the SD cards I have been using in the Pi3 just resulted in Pi3 getting stuck on Rainbow screen. So decided to upgrade card to latest image including Stretch. I don't really want to do a clean install. Why? Because my sc...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

So do I not need the 'KeyboardInterrupt' bit?

Will 'except:' work on its own? Except what? Surely I need the KeyboardInterrupt bit too?

As in:

Code: Select all

except KeyboardInterrupt:
    spider.stop()

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Not sure what that means.

Do mean something like this?

Code: Select all

try:
  while True:
    spider.forward(0.3)
    eyes.wait_for_in_range()
    spider.stop()
    spider.backward(0.3)
    sleep(2)
    spider.right(0.3)
    sleep(1.5)
except KeyboardInterrupt:
    spider.stop()

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

SUCCESS! ('Fiesta' by the Pogues now playing loudly in my head!) Before I say how, I have one last problem... How do you get the bloomin' thing to STOP!? My working code is below but in practice it was a hardware hack that changed everything. I found that if I added another battery pack then I could...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Okay, so I think I need to insert a command at the beginning of the 'gobackward' callout that stops or ends the 'goforward' call.

Is there a command like 'goforward.stop' or 'goforward.end'?

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Here is my latest attempt: Note: I have just changed the last three lines of code. Result: robot walks forwards until it gets to wall, it then tries walking backwards and forwards at same time - stalemate. If I take it away from wall it returns to just walking forwards. Additional problem: motors st...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

I think what is happening is this: while True(): goforward() - this takes it to the goforward callout which makes each leg take one step. front.wait_for_in_range() - when it returns from the goforward callout it come back her which tells it to wait! It is therefore not taking any further steps, it i...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Okay. Adapted my code as shown below. Now when the prog runs the spider takes one step forward and then waits. If you place your hands in front of the sensor then it backs up and turns then waits again. This is progress because original I don't think he even took a first step. It seems that the 'gof...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Okay, it walks forwards! Yay! Whoo..... Except..... Now when it gets to the wall it seems to go into a meltdown trying to fight between wanting to go forwards and wanting to go backwards. It seems that when it comes up to an obstacle it now tries to trigger both sets of commands and rocks back and f...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Hi Stuart, Don't worry I had already spotted the mismatching motor object names and changed them. I added the print statement to the gobackward function and got this (again after it prints, 'waiting for something to happen', nothing happened until I put my foot in front, then after going back and tu...

Re: Raspberry Pi-der Obstacle avoidance with gpiozero

Okay, so I added 'print(front.distance)' to the backwards loop. The first three lines came up and then it waited when I put my foot in front it backed up then turned whilst printing zeroes then began to move forward but immediately stopped. Here is the printout: Python 3.4.2 (default, Oct 19 2014, 1...
