wget http://nodejs.org/dist/path_to_latest_version/node_version-arm-pi.tar.gz
tar xvfz node_version-arm-pi.tar.gz
cd node_version-arm-pi
sudo cp -R * /usr/local/
Voilá! :)

You really should get the latest version, 0.10.21 which contain an important security fix. From http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.21/

I didn't succeed fixing the installation and had to start all over again. Did it twice even, just to prove that stubbornness is useless at times. ;)

Yeah, it was after installing upstart that my installation broke. Did you find an easy repair? I just made a new one, from scratch.

No, it is newer. I'm going to switch it soon, so the next tree is what you get by default with rpi-update, and it will be in the next Raspbian Wheezy image. Thanks for the info. Is there a roadmap anywhere with estimated release date of next Wheezy? I'm not very comfortable with compiling the kerne...
