Re: Sonic Pi port 4558

Many thx, Dougie
I think I will need to build myself an RPi as playing around with the 'internals' of my grandson's RPI by remote SSH will be a challenge too far
Thx again
PS: and quite irrelevant - he lives in North Waltham

Sonic Pi port 4558

My grandson who lives 40 miles away has an RPi with x11vnc and Linphone installed. I have the same on my Windows laptop. I help him with his projects using the x11vnc remote desktop and we chat via Linphone. In one of our sessions, he opened Sonic Pi for the first time but it did not complete loadin...

Check out ...
RuneAudio for the music player operating system.
And iqAudio for a DAC, amplifier, PSU & case.
You'll need an RPi, of course and a source for your music.

Teaching Scratch Remotely

I'm building an RPi-2 setup for my 9 yrs old grandson who lives 40 miles away. I would like us to 'work' interactively together helping him with Scratch then Python. Ideally I would like to see his RPi desktop & be able to intervene from my Windows 7 laptop 40 miles away BUT ALSO simultaneously have...

HD Audio PASS THROUGH

Back in July dom posted .... It is being actively worked on. We've got an intern in for the summer who's on this full time now, but as you can imagine, it's not a trivial job and has a steep learning curve. Hopefully he'll get it working (and I'll help him as much as is necessary). Can we pls have a...

Re: USB disk issues

I've built 4 overclocked RPi based media centres for family members and have had no power/voltage issues. I use the MMP5V2A Power Supply from ModMyPi (they are in UK) then make up a USB A male to USB A male cable using speaker cable (more copper = less volt drop) and connect to the RPi by a short US...

Re: Suggestions for version 3

My biggest problem with the Pi are the SD cards. I get errors out of nowhere far too often. Just yesterday, working on a project. Walking an SD card between a model A and model B. Always being careful. Then out of nowhere the card has tons of errors, have to stop everything and make a new card. It ...

Re: Impressed with OpenElec on Raspberry Pi

Yes - OpenElec and RPi work great for me too.
I also pass-through the audio to my AV receiver but that is not yet possible for HD Audio (DTS-MA and Dolby True-HD).
jamesh, do you have any'insider' info on when this might become available?
Thx

Re: Computer Science Networking

Over the past few months, I have been working with a number of LTSP devs and we have come up with a rather nice solution to I think what you are trying to do with LDAP. What I think you are trying to do is - Sit down at any pi and log in - Auto mount that users home folder - Or set pis up as thin t...

Great news that the Camera Board is released.
Does that mean that a bit of development time could now become available to enable pass-through of HD Audio (DTS-MA & Dolby TrueHD)?

Re: Power requirement and DCV theory

Argief's problems could simply be a problem of supply leads with too high resistance. See my post http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=40440 My suggestion would be - select the power supply with the highest current rating on the label, carefully open it up and unsolder the existing...

USB Power Cables are a Problem

There is a lot of good advice around about buying high quality/low resistance cables but I’ve found this difficult as adverts do not specify the resistance. For example: I purchased a cheap 1.5 metre power cable (USB A male to DC 5mm plug) and found that each conductor measured 2.6 ohms so 5.2 ohms ...

I work in the same building and even I am lucky to get ten minutes of him per week. As Jessie said:...
