BUILDROOT - changing cmdline.txt and config.txt?

Hi I'm using Buildroot to put together my own image for a Pi Zero W for a small application and have things more of less the way I want them. One issue I was looking for feedback on was how to modify the default cmdline.txt and config.txt that the Buildroot Raspberry Pi configuration includes. I hav...

Re: Yocto newbie, is what I want to achieve realistic? (gpiozero and tvservice)

Thanks for that. I had viewed the Jumpnow pages and you are correct, they're a great starting point. Yocto is probably overkill for what I need to do but I have another project on the go that will probably need me to use it so I thought this would be a good learning opportunity. That said, I've take...

OK, solved the tvservice issue. Simply a matter of adding the 'userland' package to the minimal image config :-)

Yocto newbie, is what I want to achieve realistic? (gpiozero and tvservice)

As per the subject line I'm a newbie at Yocto. I've downloaded the required software, built and written a few sample images and tweaked an image a bit and that's all worked fine. However, it looks like I'm going to have to venture outside the nice safe confines of the prepackaged recipes. My main re...

Re: CM3L + LAN9514 Problems after Feb. 2017 Raspbian Release

We had the activity LED pin connected to a FET that ran underneath our USB lines on a different PCB layer. Out of interest, was there a reference plane between the USB traces and the LED trace? I'm in the middle of designing my own implementation and it would make my life a lot easier if I could ru...

At risk of asking how long is a piece of string, roughly what sort of trace length would be considered short?

Recommend contract designer for CM3 IO board?

Folks I'm working on a product based on the CM3. While I've a reasonable amount of experience designing basic PCBs and there are many good resources available to help design a CM I/O board, given this will be a commercial product I want to make sure it's done right. I've limited experience with 4-la...

Re: Communicating with a running script?

Thanks folks, both good suggestions.

I was eventually able to get my PiZero to work as both a serial and Ethernet gadget with Windows 10 so the sockets solution made more sense.

Thanks for your help

Communicating with a running script?

Hi I'm looking for some basic pointers. I've a Python script using GPIOZero to do various things with GPIO inputs and outputs and I run this on startup of my Pi. However, I want to be able to interface with this script, preferably from the command line i.e. run a simple command from the command line...

Re: Run GUI application from serial terminal

If I understand you correctly, you have a display attached to the Zero and have it configured to boot into the desktop (with autologin). Now you want to start a GUI application on that desktop from the serial console. If that is the case, make sure you're logged in on the console as the user that o...

Run GUI application from serial terminal (Solved)

Hi I'm using a Pi Zero and had the USB OTG virtual serial port up and running. I'm wondering if it is possible to start an application/command in the console/GUI session from the serial terminal? I'm using the Zero as a video source to test a third device and want to be able to run various videos an...
