what OS are you using

sudo fdisk -l
should show what is what
can you do this directly ? not over an ssh session

this will not do what you expect in Stretch ,
as systemd terminals are slightly different
the easiest way to remove the console blanking is to add
consoleblank=0
to the end of /boot/cmdline.txt
and reboot

rsync wont do it stuff proper on vfat partitions however
if you
mount whatever to /mnt/
rsync -vax / /mnt/dst it will only do the one file system

enable the camera
shut down
plug the camera in
reboot
do
vcgencmd get_camera
doers it appear ?

does
raspistill raspistill -o image.jpg
do anything
