Re: Experiences with Servioo?

Is anyone using Servioo as a DLNA server? Any thoughts or experiences? How is the performance? I am using it, but not on the Raspberry. It's written in Java and requires a fair amount of RAM (probably more than there is on the Pi). I'm running minidlna alongside samba, nfs, transmission and openvpn...

Experiences with Servioo?

Hi, Is anyone using Servioo as a DLNA server? Any thoughts or experiences? How is the performance? I'm running minidlna alongside samba, nfs, transmission and openvpn. minidlna seems to constantly consume CPU but never quite is able to keep up (files deleted weeks ago are still present, files added ...

Re: USB redux

A USB device failing, or the USB driver failing usually results in either - Kernel panic (no reboot, unless you have either panic=10 on the commandline or the watchdog set up) - Device becoming unresponsive, which may or may not have associated syslog spam - USB in general breaking and becoming unr...

Re: Alternative to Pi without USB/ethernet issues?

Thanks for all the info. So it sounds like the ODROID as long as you're using USB2 devices is OK?

Agree about the community, whatever relative weakness the rpi has as a device is covered for and some by the community!

Alternative to Pi without USB/ethernet issues?

Hi, It looks like I've got a fault with my RaspberryPi so I'll be returning it for a warranty repair. Until the past week, it's been a stable and excellent device to run a NAS and seedbox on. I'm considering purchasing another ARM based device to carry some of the load in future and perhaps re-purpo...

transmission daemon - crashes same time almost every night

Hi, I've got a strange issue with transmission daemon of late, it seems to very frequently hang my raspberry pi, often at the same time every evening but not exclusively. I have ~100 torrents in transmission and based on syslog, transmission regularly checks all torrents, attempts to connect to trac...

Re: Network problems and hangs... losing faith... (solved)

Well after a few more days testing.. I definitely had a power supply issue. The Farnell power supply I bought with the pi was down to 460mA. Replacing that seems to have solved the main part of the issue. Secondly, I reverted my changes in monit. This I find strange, as monit was checking file syste...

Re: Network problems and hangs... losing faith... (solved)

I hadn't run rpi-update for at least a month (until last night again) and freezing in all but the last few days hasn't been a problem. While it doesn't explain why it used to work, I'd recommend updating. Take a backup of sdcard first, and you can revert back if there are problems. As I've said, th...

I've start experiencing similar issues. Using my Pi as a fileserver, bittorrent (transmission) via openvpn. Have barely had any issues until past week with the Pi since I first got it 9 months ago. Noticed sudden regular freezes, can be daily, sometimes within minutes. All the pi's lights are on, n...

HELP! Corrupted SD Card

Hi, My SD card seems to have gotten corrupted and partially died. I was able to image it with DD and move to a new SD card. I can boot into the Pi (using Raspbian btw), but some services do not start and I repeatedly get similar errors to the following "INIT: cannot execute "/sbin/getty"" amidst err...

Re: USB redux

MaxK1 - Have received and installed the D-Link DUB-H4. Have done quite a bit of testing over the weekend including copying locally and via NFS/Samba. So far, so good. Must have been a dodgy hub.

Thanks again for all your help.

I'm pretty sure it's always that drive but may also be because most of the content I play is from that drive. Re: Poor network / file transfer performance, because of USB

Have rebuilt everything from the ground up and things looking a little better. After a couple of tests playing media through SMB, drop outs are less frequent. It seems to be (mostly) linked to increasing vm.min_free_kbytes to 32768 as best as I can correlate. Still early days but it looks promising....

Re: Poor network / file transfer performance, because of USB

Yeah three hard drives connected to the hub. Other than playing video there is no other operations on other disks usually. Also tested interrupt count and it peaks at about 8000 on large transfers. Any other ways I can measure usb or disk activity?

Could it be a faulty pi?

Poor network / file transfer performance, because of USB?

I've installed the latest Raspbian on my RPI with the intention of using it primarily as a NAS device. I've got it running Samba, NFS and also minidlna. I'm not sure why, but the pi seems to be struggling serving video via all protocols with the clients either pausing and restarting or more often ex...

Re: Connection timeouts in XBMC Android

I've been trouble shooting this for a while now. Just in case anyone has a similar problem, I've tried the following: * Updated firmware and kernel usimng rpi-update. * Tried the smsc95xx.turbo_mode=N trick. Seemed to make network slightly slower but didn't resolve the problem. * Disabled overclocki...
